G&L Club Part 7

I haven't posted much or joined a club in a long long time. Here is my SB-2 in Candy Apple Red on Swamp Ash with a tinted gloss maple neck and fretboard. I had also picked up a JB-2 in Sonic Blue Frost, but had a change of heart after a week and switched gears. Will post a pic of what I switched over to shortly.

My experience with the L2500 was not impressive but that was 15 years ago to be fair. I have had two L5500's that had awesome B Strings but the L2500's were kinda weak compared to a 34" scale SR5. Maybe it is time I gave them another shot?

I wish there was a way of buying a new 3 bolt neck without having to send my whole bass to the states. My mid '90s L2000 neck is skiramped beyond help.
One would consider getting this one: G L Asatjazz Bass Neck 4 String USA Made Fantastic Condition Fender Keys | eBay
Number CLF40232 rather suggests year 2006 (but seller says 1998).
It has holes for 3 bolts and the micro-tilt token.
And many extra holes though (had been fitted to a Fender Jazz body)
ASAT basses had a 3-hole plate up to the mid-2000's (mine was 2004).
ASAT basses necks have 1-1/2" width at the nut (Jazz type).
Heel width to be checked with the seller.
You can put your G&L tuners and string tree on it.
Very nice with the binding and the RW fretboard wood grain.
I believe the starting price is reasonable.
I was thinking that fitting a G&L neck on a Fender body was a nightmare, but the seller did it... (21 frets vs. 20, heel bottom shape, etc.)

I just read this on the G&L sight...
I copied and pasted:

We've done that before in the '80s and '90s. We have a 5-string model coming up that'll have a 4+1 headstock.
Hmmmmm..........

So I guess it's about the upcoming JB5. But there were probably good reasons for eventually choosing 3+2 headstock over 4+1 in the past. What is different now? Have the engineering considerations changed or do they just want the classic look here so it looks more familiar to the folks who want a Fender Jazz V but made by G&L?
