G&L Club Part 7

Got the neck right here on the classfieds.
Now the question becomes going one of two routes:
1. Modding a P bass body to fit the neck and pickup.
2. Getting a B stock L2500 body for 65$ from G&L, and if the neck position is the same as the L1005, plug the bridge pup, and refinish the body. Plus source a G&L saddlelock 5 bridge (haven't seen any for sale)

The G&L body will be smaller than a Precision body, the pickup route is in the right spot, and you know the neck and bridge will fit with minimal effort. So, provided you're good with filling the pickup hole and refinishing it, that would be my recommendation.

Though some crazy Fender/G&L mashup bass would be pretty cool…

I think a mashup would be cool as well. My brother in law wants to make me the body out of Bolivian rosewood, he runs a woodwork shop. I'll still go for a P style body.

Is there anywhere I can get the measurements for a G&L 1005/2500 neck pocket and pickup cavity (the distance between them)?

Series. They are an MFD modified to clean up the series sound over a normal L-2500 in series mode.

Thank you. I've had quite a few L2000's but this M series has a very different voice. Seems to have more of a mid scoop natively. I like the different tonality of the M. Very cool and thanks for the info.

You're welcome. They are essentially an under-wound MFD that's voiced to have less low-mids and cleaner highs.

Keep your M series if you like it, it's been discontinued through G&L going forward. I like mine a lot and am glad I bought it

Order one now, both Upfront Guitars, and Rocket Music say it's going to be discontinued. I have no idea of the timeframe...

That's how I got my white pickup cover for the MFD humbucker on my Kiloton. I couldn't find such an animal listed anywhere, so I called and asked Memo if he had one, and if so, how much.

Thanks, I looked and at $79 vs $35 for a Fender HiMass it's not worth it unfortunately.

There is a ridiculously low-priced Tribute M-2000 in Classifieds right now. (And has been listed for a while already.) I cannot fathom how nobody has bought it yet. Please somebody grab it. I don't need a bass, I haven't played in a while and don't plan to in the near future, but that thing induces GAS like nothing else. No affiliation.

Second minty couldn't resist G&L this month. Love their transparent finishes especially with matching headstock. Not a fan of inlaid white lines but SB2 fretless are a rare commodity. Quartersawn vintage gloss tint neck and scraped wood binding. Came with Hipshot lightweight tuners- same size and I'll install correct G&L lightweights. 2007 vintage.
