G&L Club Part 7

Second minty couldn't resist G&L this month. Love their transparent finishes especially with matching headstock. Not a fan of inlaid white lines but SB2 fretless are a rare commodity. Quartersawn vintage gloss tint neck and scraped wood binding. Came with Hipshot lightweight tuners- same size and I'll install correct G&L lightweights. 2007 vintage.

That is killer!!!!

Lot of non-resistance going on this week! Happened to fall in the same category also. Not sure of the year(80's)of this Red Asat, with body binding, that caught my attention. Should be here on the brown truck Thursday?

Your pics aren't showing but I'll assume that's the sweet one off Reverb. I was eyeing that when the belair green one popped up. Yours is a lot newer than you think. Nice score.

Thanks, that is the one. Pictures didn't download way they usually do,you have to click where the web printing,to pull up the picture. Notice it has the crinkle three bolt neck plate.

oh that is a pretty SB2. I'm a big SB2 fan. My first G&L was an SB2 from the late 80s. Sadly, I had to let it go during a downturn in my financial status. I have a newer one now, but I don't recall the date.
I didn't know they made a fretless version.
Thanks for putting me on the hunt.

Thanks. A fretless SB2 isn't a hunt it's an insidious safari into the dark side.

My 2000 ASAT semi-hollow has the same plate. I jumped on the belair semi-hollow instead of your red one since semi-hollows are now custom shop only. No more build to order SH ASAT's.

Haven't seen Autumn Burst before

Is it kinda in between Honey and Old School Tobacco bursts? Very pretty, anyway. Picture pinched from here — CS bass, available now.

So I am learning. I saw one that was actually for sale. The seller's disclosure was great, it showed a serious ding to the side of the fingerboard that made it a no go for me.
What I am also surprised by is that if you look at G&L's web site, it doesn't show any SB2 as an available model.
I think I'll contact our own @RocketMusic and see what he can do. I'd happily pay for a custom build.

Yes, in my experience

All except for that new Placentia design, and you do not want to buy one of those. Their reviews have been terrible.

Thanks y'all

I sold my USA M2500 during the pandemic due to financial stress and really regretted it. I was never a huge fan of the neck thickness though so now thinking of getting a tribute M2500 and have a custom neck made locally. I always liked the saddle lock bridge which is why I inquired

My Stingray Special 5 is my main bass nowadays but I want that M2500 sound too!
