tl;dr I need recommendations for roundwounds for my L-2500.
Hey all, I recently got a great L-2500. The first thing I want to use it for is a 70s funk band we are putting together. I put cobalt flats on it, and it sounds great. The notes are clear with strong attacks and well-defined pitch all the way to the low B. There is also a really strong midrange which I like. And, even the lower frets on the G string have a nice fat "bass" quality to them. But I sometimes miss the sparkle of roundwounds (my home base is DR Nickel Low Riders).
Being new to this bass and pretty inexperienced with flats, I don't really know how much of what I am hearing is due to the bass and how much is the string. I would like to retain the muscular sound, strong fundamental and the fatness on all strings, and get back some of the fingers on the strings sound, and the sparkle. And then roll back the tone and sound basically like flats (I know, not really but mostly).
I like to play many kinds of music, so what strings might be good for what I need? I was just going to try a set of Low Riders, what are other strings you guys like?
