Isn't Norway the Land of the Midnight Sun? That must be what the sky looks like at midnight there in June. The midnight sky where I live looks closer to this:

I went to Oslo when I was in the Navy. That's a nice blue on your bass. I'm more of red than blue guy, that and wood grains. I looked really closely at red burst, and ruby red metallic when I was ordering mine but all the photos I found were with different lighting so I wasn't really sure what I'd be getting. Hence the Tobacco Sunburst on my L2K. Is the Andromeda finish a really dark blue or black under the stars? I might be tempted by a really dark blue like that.

Andromeda is very dark, blackish, not blueish at all.

I went to Oslo when I was in the Navy. That's a nice blue on your bass. I'm more of red than blue guy, that and wood grains. I looked really closely at red burst, and ruby red metallic when I was ordering mine but all the photos I found were with different lighting so I wasn't really sure what I'd be getting. Hence the Tobacco Sunburst on my L2K. Is the Andromeda finish a really dark blue or black under the stars? I might be tempted by a really dark blue like that.

This finish is called Transparent Blue. It really is transparent, but it's so dark you have to look closely to see any wood grain through it. In fact, the finish is really darker than it shows in photos. It's a beautiful, rich finish, and really does resemble a midnight sky. I also have a blueburst Tribute MJ-4, and the blue in it is so dark it just looks solid black until the light hits it just right.

It's not a perfect fit — tight around the neck is twisting it ever so slightly, which is warping it a little. I'll get the tech to shave a little off when he fits the Fralin.

Finally got the redone ASAT ebony-lined fretless neck on the Lynx now officially known as the Flynx. Really disliked the white plastic inserts it had and luckily the side dots are on the line. Set up with TI flats and probably put them on the SB2 1st gen as well although I really like these pickups with DR nickel Lo-Riders too.

I used my L-2000 in passive single coil mode with both pickups on, so it is tone you can achieve as long your L-2000 has the k switch for single coil operation.

But that Jazz has dual volumes, and coil tap for each pup, so it still has more available, example you could run the front pup humbucker, and the back pup single coil with %70 volume.

Ya the Andromeda finish is black with multi colored glitter on top or mixed in, at a distance or in most photos it looks plain black. Up close to the eye, it's nice and colorful, but still black background

That's how I have my Tribute L2500 wired. Of course, I don't have separate volume controls on the L2500, but I prefer a master volume anyhow. It amazes me how much that mod adds to the versatility of that bass. I really like playing it with the neck in humbucker and the bridge in single coil. I put the extra switches in as push-pulls on the volume and treble pots, so it still looks like any other li'l ol' L2500. And when both pickups are in humbucker mode, series is still available for knocking the fillings out of people's teeth. I wear one of those mouth guards like football players wear to protect myself when it's in series mode.

I've got some interesting news! It sounds like the G&L sales guys have been hearing some feedback. I know they've heard it from me, and I'm guessing also from a bunch of other dealers because there's been some action taken.

Effective immediately, "Build To Order" prices have been dropped $401. Where the starting price effective as of March 2023 was $2400, it's now $1999.

The former nut width and radius options are still not options, so that's a bummer. But the movement on pricing is a very welcome change!

Of course, no good deed goes unpunished. So my first question to my G&L guy upon hearing this was what do I do for the folks who've ordered BTO basses at the higher price between March and now? And that includes myself, I'm currently stocking 3 basses that were ordered at the $2400 baseline. My G&L guys says "we will work with you to make it right for everyone." I'm not sure exactly what that means yet, but I'll run through that exercise using myself as the guinea pig. Then I'll do my best to track down everyone in that boat (who ordered through me) to make whatever adjustments are feasible. If you want to make sure I handle your case, please drop me a PM.

You will love TI flats on the SB2. That's how I fly when I'm doing 4 strings.

I prefer EB Slinky Cobalt flats (most of my G&L's sport Dr nickel rounds) but with these particular pickups the more subdued TI's work well. Chef used to call these the best jazz pickup ever and I tend to agree but they're more than that. Pics below of the infamous JP "John Paul Jones" 1st gen body I got from Chef a few years back.

My take is these big singles are similar to a Dark Star with a thumb rest. While clearly in the L1000/2000 camp, single coil mode in those hummers can't touch these. The Flynx is fretless to die for- mwaaaa ha ha.
