If it is a titanium bolt the mod won't devalue the bass. I am certain it balances better with the mod.

Sadly, no:

While I was on that page, I noticed for the first time that the pickups on the Tom Hamilton Signature aren't stock:

We thought we could dial in the pickups to suit Tom's style even more. Ideas were exchanged and prototypes were built, carefully moving the output and resonant peak until the perfect spec was nailed.

I think so, yes. My Custom Shop (not build to order or formerly order option) is right up there with Lakland USA, Sadowsky, Lull, etc. They are all a little different, and one may suit your tastes better than the others, but all fantastic builds.

The build to order ones are great too, but their custom shop is another level up.

I've got to agree. I just snagged a Custom Shop Matador. I'm not educated enough to really highlight the differences, but I feel like the neck is what jumps out to me first, so I'll use that as an example.

I'm no good with a camera, but here's the Matador's beautiful, almost holographic flamed maple neck in front. The "standard" Fullerton SB-1 right behind it was my regular bass before the Matador (and my old ASAT behind that was my regular for almost a decade prior).

It probably doesn't come through a photo too well, but the edges are also just nicely, subtly rounded and shaped compared to the SB-1, and the ends of the frets are more nicely polished and shaped as well. It's nothing overwhelming or obvious, but the attention to detail is at another level.

The Fullertons are nice, solid basses and I never felt that I was missing out, but that Custom Shop just feels special when I pick it up.

Erik straightened a J bass neck for me about 6 months ago and it's still perfect!

I think I really just need to feel one of these basses that's a step up from my build to order level basses so I know myself what the differences are. Or maybe not because I'm very happy with my G&Ls as-is.

I have 3 BTO basses, 2 BTO guitars, 1 Fullerton standard guitar, 2 early tribute basses, and my custom shop fretless. All are terrific instruments. There are differences as you go up levels, but it's up to the individual to decide if those differences are worth the scratch.

Given what Greg O'Rocket Music told us earlier, I'm waiting to see what the new lineups will look like. Such as no more L series Fullerton Deluxes, and those in effect being replaced by the Asat basses, the new colors in the CLF Research line, etc. Greg told us a lot, I'm still waiting for G&L and the dealers to get the new stuff on their websites.

Anti-Satellite

This time around, the name became "ASAT" which is US military shorthand for an "Anti-Satellite" missile. The ASAT Special, as the model became known, features jumbo single-coil Magnetic Field Design™ pickups, each with a narrow bobbin aperture for a coil which is shallow yet wide.
