Greed at its best. The way things were with QC, lately, ordering through a dealer seemed like a good way to be insulated from shoddy workmanship.

I admit I was a little confused last week when you linked the factory available instruments after I mentioned they started selling builders choice. I assumed it was maybe different lines, since you seemed to have way more selection from the factory than their webstore did.

Based on the 4 instruments they have posted so far, I am thinking you may not have much to worry about. They have never done a great job of managing the webstore. That said, this plus all the other changes (option order changes, price increases, big online retailers joining dealer network) definitely points to the likelihood that you will be selling fewer G&Ls at some point in the future.

Noting I do not wish fewer G&L sales on you. Just pointing out that things seem to be moving that direction if they have not been already.

Yep, you'd have an advocate, then. Someone as interested as you in getting things made right.

Of course, G&L has always been pretty great in my experience when issues arise, so I won't grouse about that.

According to what I read in the BBE promo email I received, these can be ordered directly, but they can also be ordered through a dealer. If this is setup like I've seen other companies set up pricing, the manufacturer will sell at what the dealer normally sells for and will not go below that. The dealer can, should they so choose, shave some off that price. Fender operates like that, I believe. Smaller companies like Seymour Duncan and DiMarzio do as well, I think. Of course, this is all a WAG on my part, but I hope it's something like that.

Thank you for your reply. And all the others too. Thx to Greg for your work, going through your pics. I appreciate all of your responses.

I really like gloss white, that's what's on my Trib M2000. That's what I'd like. However it's not available for the BTOs, at least it's not listed.

Looks like I'm stuck with either Alpine or Pearl.

I don't doubt that's part of it. Perhaps they grew to have so many options that they can't keep up with them.

only reason I say that, is I've visited the shop a couple of times, and the organizational disarray I saw in the back offices (the shop part I expect to be a bit in disarray at any point in time) was eye opening. If your particular order with the yellow sticky note on it is at eye level, I think you have a good chance of getting what you ordered. if not? who knows.

It could have changed since then, but I immediately thought, when I saw it, that I'm glad for dealers like Greg that can lend some stability to what looks very much like an overly complex process.
