What compressor are you folks using with your L2500 basses? I find I'm overdriving the input on my mxr when I dig into it, at all settings. I overdrive the input on my h90 as well. I would prefer to no do that.

I have had success with...
Empress Bass Comp
Broughton Omnicomp
Origin Effects Compact Bass Compressor
Effectrode LA-1A

If I am recommending one from that bunch and considering price as a factor. I am probably recommending the Broughton. Another alternative is adjusting the pole pieces on your L2500 or turning the volume down a touch.

It is beautiful. I also like the black L-2000 with the matching headstock. The specs are what I am looking for. I'm just trying to avoid buying another bass for a couple of months. Saw one for sale earlier in the year with a Quilt Red top that I should have jumped on.

I had a lot of issues with the custom order, the communication was awful, then they missed the neck binding. But it was eventually made right.

This bass is still my favourite bass I've ever owned both for quality, looks and tone. But a recent diagnosis of Parkinson's disease has me moving back to four strings and wider spacing so I can keep playing as long as possible.

If the process wasn't so lengthy, and fraught with errors, I would order another custom shop in a heartbeat. I'm still considering it, but keep watching for something I love on the used market.

I generally play without a compressor into my Orange Four-Stroke, it seems to drive the preamp perfectly, then I apply some of the Four-Stroke's compression (which is after the preamp).
Otherwise I use a Union Tube & Transmission LAB compressor on the input. It's super clean and sounds great on almost all levels of compression.

If you do ( order a CS ) pack your patience…. Order in March 10 , 2023 …. So far , crickets…. HOWEVER!, this is a bucket list Bass , so the wait is what it is .

I like that black L2K as well. Especially with that neck. Same as you, though, I'm not buying right now.

Patience is fine with me. I have 25 basses, so I wouldn't need it right away.

I back the volume knob. L series MFDs put out up to 4 volts peak to peak (all being passive !), many devices just cannot cope.

tc electronic spectracomp seemed to handle the L1k just fine at band practice. I forget which comp preset I have loaded into it but I like it.

I've got 3 different compressors at my disposal.
None of which clip when using my Tookay.

Broughton Apex (damn near unobtanium)
Dic Lloyd Photon Death Ray (sold out, but they pop up here and there)
Broughton Omnicomp (readily available, runs internally at 30V off of a 9V power supply. Plenty of headroom)

I posted this in the Luthiers corner but curious if anyone here has seen this,

This is my 2019 NAMM special G+L L2500. Love it. However, on the back of the bass over the last year, hazing has developed just below the neck bolts. I tried to capture this in the photos as best as I could. This bass has either been on a Hercules stand or stored in its case. I only put the batteries in if I am playing it.

My questions are: 1) What caused this? And
2) How can I get this cleared? I've used standard Guitar cleaning solution and elbow grease but am reluctant to do anything else until I know if it a deeper issue. Should I talk to G+L about refinishing it?

I would definitely contact G&L about it. I'm not sure about finishes, but it's only 4 years old. Surely there's a warranty on that.

Using empress bass comp. The LEDs are easier for me to monitor the signal level and reduction level.

I'm suppose to be using my ears and not my eyes.

I haven't noticed any issues with a Keeley Bassist or a TC Spectracomp (I use the parallel comp).
