G&L Club Part 7

I posted this in the Luthiers corner but curious if anyone here has seen this,

This is my 2019 NAMM special G+L L2500. Love it. However, on the back of the bass over the last year, hazing has developed just below the neck bolts. I tried to capture this in the photos as best as I could. This bass has either been on a Hercules stand or stored in its case. I only put the batteries in if I am playing it.

My questions are: 1) What caused this? And
2) How can I get this cleared? I've used standard Guitar cleaning solution and elbow grease but am reluctant to do anything else until I know if it a deeper issue. Should I talk to G+L about refinishing it?

Thank you for your expertise.

I'd bet on this one:

Where this bass has been is resting against your body in exactly that spot. It's likely to be interaction between the finish, sweat, and hours of exposure to rubbing wet material plus synthetics in the shirt material might add to the issue. Moisture could seep past the steel neck screws/washers and there is no finish under them.

I've just received my L-2000 Tribute BC!
I plugged it in to see everything was working and played for about a minute.
It feels solid and it's louder than my other basses, but the neck wasn't the log I expected. Since everybody's said it was massive I kind of expected something really beefy.
As it was ~$100 less than the standard Tribute I asked you guys what the reason was and, as some of you said, it's probably the Brazilian Cherry fingerboard, but also the solid black back side. Probably a non spectacular piece of wood…
Still, I think it's well worth the $800 I paid for it.

Good thought except I have only used it in air conditioned studio. Thanks though

I haven't noticed any issues with a Keeley Bassist or a TC Spectracomp (I use the parallel comp).
I was looking at the Keeley Bassist. I had a Spectracomp but it had some high-frequency noise so I gave it to my son. Maybe I need to trade back for it and see how it goes. Keeley Bassist looks great, but I need to wait for some more gig bucks to roll in before I make another expenditure like that.

So.....I ordered a bstock l-2500 from g&l. The sent it fedex....with signature required. There will never be somebody home to sign for it. Fedex apparently can't find a location to hold this at via their delivery manager and you absolutely cannot talk to a human. Automated phone systems should be banned.

Damn do I hate fedex.

I agree. But it's not just FedEx. UPS is just as bad. I live out in the Chihuahuan Desert. I have to drive 40 miles to get to the nearest FedEx drop point and 60 miles to the nearest for UPS. And yes, automated phone systems should be illegal. And have you tried their "chats?" You are actually chatting with a robot most of the time who can in no way comprehend your problem. CEOs of companies that use these things should face death by firing squad. Either that, or they should be stuck here in this desert with no air conditioning, and the only HVAC company they can reach has--what else--an automated phone system that runs them in circles. Somehow, this future that we live in now all looked so much more efficient when I was watching the Jetsons as a kid. Good luck to you. BTW, I have gotten through to a person at UPS with only about an hour of being on hold.

As someone who works in phone support, I have bad news for you. I'm certain my job will barely exist in 10 years.
That's sad, but I'd bet it's true. It's the way things are these days...pay more money, get less (and worse) service. The desires of the consumers are ignored completely and are forced to bend to the will of corporate greed. OK, off my soapbox now. :hyper::drool:

Ironically there is a large FedEx terminal 20 minutes from my office that accepts and hold packages, but their super awesome delivery manager tool can't find it. I hope FedEx execs end up broke and starving on the street.

Some deliveries are set up to not be able to divert, you can't change and have it held at an office, it has to be delivered to the address with signature. I've had basses delivered and same issue, I couldn't change anything about the delivery.
I had to have someone else be at the house because I couldn't be there. It's a bummer

A G&L custom shop order is likely my next bass.

I sometimes wonder how much of a headache it could be.

Knock on wood I've ordered twice through the custom shop and at least a half dozen order options with no issues whatsoever. After submitting my order there was no communication until it was ready to ship but that's fine - I don't expect there to be any unless there is an issue.

I cannot stress enough the importance of using a reputable dealer that has a history with G&L. Greg at Rocket was the guy for me because (1) he does a lot with G&L. He knows the product, knows the process, and knows who to contact if there is n issue; and (2) his customer service is second to none. If there is an issue, I would am 100% confident he would make it right.

Go ahead and order away! G&L makes a great bass (when they make it right) and I'd be willing to bet they make a lot more right then they do wrong.

+1 - I'm slightly lower on the quantities but all this is spot on, especially using Greg @RocketMusic .
