Both of those seem to be OK, but your reminder is prompting me to double check that. I have run a fret file through the nut slot very gently, mostly to make sure there were no burrs in there and that the slot was slanted downward on the tuner side.

Series/Parallel switch started failing in my Tribute L2500 last week. Worked fine when I bought it, started not always working on Series for Bridge pickup, now it only works in parallel. Wiring in the Tributes is an absolute mess. Way too much extra wire in the cavity. Thought about cleaning it up while replacing the switch. Ended up deciding to do K-Mod wiring with Treble cut cap selection. Ordered parts today. Anyone try this setup yet?

After 6 months with my l-2500, I'm just not liking the electronics too much. I know it might be blasphemous, but I'm thinking of ditching the tri-tone system for a more traditional preamp. Has anyone here done this with good results?
I want to ditch the toggle switch and get a mast volume/blend pot, then maybe stacked bass treble and separate mid pot. I think I'd just hardwire the pickups in parallel, because with the added preamp functionality I don't think I'll need or want series mode.

You want an M-2500. And you'd be right!
I do. Someone offered me one here on TB a few months back but didn't want to part with the money at the time. M-2500's are no longer produced if I understand correctly?

Check out the Audere preamps. You can get pretty much whatever you want from them.
Yes, you can...and I'm a big fan of theirs—several installed. In the case of the M-series, though, Paul Gagon designed the preamp specifically to pair with the slightly underwound MFD pickups in those basses. The combination works really well, so there's much to be said for getting an M-series bass per se.
They discontinued the M series, possibly still available through the custom shop though
I'll eventually find a used one, or just get a stingray 5 HH
There is a US M2500 in classifieds right now. A few used Tribute ones on Reverb and GC.
Wow - I just got some glorious news from G&L. The nut width and neck radius options are back in business for the Build To Order bass product line. Hallelujah! Man, I turned down sooooo many orders when they cut those options off.
1.5", 1 5/8" and 1 3/4" nut widths are all available once again, as are the 7.5", 9.5" and 12" radii.Even better: they are now freebies, so no upcharge like they used to be. Oops, my bad. Changing the nut width from the default is a $50 upcharge. Sorry for my confusion!
Empress is still a no-go, but they are working on another possible lightweight body wood solution for the BTO line. Hang tight for that info.

Starting the year with some great news
Great news! Now, if they could just bring blocks and binding back…
When I got a new neck made for my '07 SB-2, I was told they'd be glad to do block inlays. The neck was $500 and the block inlays were a $350 up-charge. Ouch!
What, no blocks on USA builds? Even this Tribute has blocks.
(I'd rather it had neck binding and no face dots, instead of blocks. I guess it doesn't look too blingy as-is, so there's that.)
Blocks and binding are Custom Shop options now. They're always looking for differentiators between the BTO and Custom Shop product lines, and those are a pretty reasonable choice, IMHO. Certainly more so than the nut width and radius options. Just my $.02.
Oh, and the Natural Wood Binding (aka scraped binding on the body) has also found its way back into the BTO list of options. Plastic body binding remains a Custom Shop only thing.
