very sad day, i think i snapped the truss rod on my 90s LB100, unfortunately it has a maple neck and i'm not too encouraged by the discussion i just had with my luthier
i was trying to get the action on my LB100 to match that of my L2000, the truss rod was not too hearty should we say, it just snapped, i wasn't cranking on it or anything, i'm gonna get it looked at later, but my luthier prepared me for the worst
alright, i feel like i'm monopolizing this thread, but if everything goes smoothly, i can probably get an unplayed rosewood jazz width sb-2 neck to go with my LB100 body and have everything resolved in a week or so rather than getting a new neck fabricated, which i'm guessing is going to cost more and probably take a pretty long time, super bowl stomach issues aside, things are looking up
Here's my collection so far: New MJ-5, L-2000, and Tribute M-2000. They make me happy.

The Tribby M-2000 for stage show work. It's got TI flats on it.
The L-2000 for a cover rock band and funky stuff with an 18-piece big band (when I'm off upright). It's got D'Addario XL rounds.
The MJ-5 for rootsy rock/country stuff. It's wearing D'Addario Chromes.
It's a G&L for all occasions!
Hey you G&L guys. I am trying to find out what colors were available in 1981 on L2000 basses. I am looking at one that has had the finish stripped and the body wood looks like ash. Can't seem to find a list on the web anywhere.

I have some limited info about the 1980 finish list, from when I bought two new L-1000's that year. One was trans-red over ash/ebony....the other was trans-blue over ash/ebony. Also in stock at this particular shop were natural/ash, natural/hog, and tobacco burst/hog. I know that trans-green and CAR were on the dealer's list of available finishes too, but there was a delay for CAR as they were having problems with that finish.**
Not sure about which other solid colors were available in 1980, but I know that black and white were available by '81 for sure, and probably a metallic gold of some sort. I've also seen a couple trans-red over hog 80-81 G&L's, but not sure if they were original.
TB member Duke (The Owl Farm) had a pre-production (serial# <B00500) 1980 L-1000 with a Cherryburst/ash finish, unclear if original or not.
**If you see an early (80-81) G&L with a horrible CAR paint job (dry areas, dark areas, orange peel), it's probably the original factory finish, some CAR's left the factory with really poor paint jobs. I recall seeing some brand new CAR's like that and wondered how in the hell they made it past inspection.

Black, Blonde, Burgundy, Natural Gloss, Tobacco Sunburst, 2-color and 3-color Sunburst, Clear Red, Silver Metallic, Gold Metallic, White, Clear Forest Green, Clear Blue, Candy Apple Red Metallic, not sure for Honey, Vintage White and Old School Tobacco Sunburst (all three quite rare and/or misnamed), and for the exact/correct names out of Electric Blue, Cobalt Blue, Emerald Blue and Lake Placid Blue Metallic.
Wood: mostly Mahogany and Swamp Ash. Alder was uncommon.
Fingerboard: maple, rosewood and ebony.

As I understand it, he's interested specifically in finishes that were available in 1981 only.
