Cool! Yeah it was mine, I sold it to them in December. Really nice playing bass that was a legitimate drunken eBay bid back in September 2014. There's a story with that bass according to the guy I got it from:
"There's a bit of history behind the bass... I used it making two albums with a band called Big Cookie & the Crumbs, a blues/classic rock band out of Texas. Big Cookie, the lead guitarist, God rest his soul, played with Roy Buchannan for 16 years before we bagged him. We were signed to AVI Entertainment out of Oklahoma City and cut 2 records Heartbreak Hideaway and Ghost before he passed. That bass also toured with me in those days. She also did session work with me backing Will Ray of the Hellecasters who endorses G & L. Dave McClaren VP of G & L Guitars even played the green bass I named Jeri (don't ask)."
It was a nostalgia purchase for me, having sold a black & silver swirl L-5500 about 10 years ago and regretting it. But in the end I just couldn't live without MFDs so off it went, replaced with a L-1505. Enjoy it, she's a great bass!
L2000 with solid birdseye neck/headstock/fretboard (zero laminations), flame maple burst body, l2500 tiger maple body top, maple neck, birdseye fretboard. Both USA, Fullerton.
Thats a spector 4 rebop zebrawood deluxe euro, with matching fretless neck hanging.
Nice! I gotta print that story out and store it with the bass. It's definitely a keeper and wouldn't mind having another one around. The bass is in surprisingly good condition, but I wish the bridge wasn't maxed out. The neck probably needs a readjustment, but it plays great as is. There are a lot of reviews saying that the 5500 is heavier than the 2500, however your old 5500 is probably a 1/2lb lighter than my 2014 2500! Furthermore, I love the B string through the EMGs, and the pickup pan knob is fantastic option.
NICE!!!I have this bad boy on its way to me from Rocket Music. I've been cutting the number of basses I own steadily and I've really found out that I really just like passive, single pick-up basses. I've been looking for an ash maple P-bass for a while now with not so much luck. I was really happy with the quality of a L-1500 I briefly owned.
This will be my first new from a dealer bass since I was a kid. I don't plan on buying a new bass in the near future and for the first time a warranty and an unplayed instrument was worth the cost of a new instrument. I have a nice singlecut with TI flats and this is going to be my round wound bass. I'm going to have only 2 basses and focus on practicing.

It sounds like you didn't like the clarity of G&D on the D'Addario strings but otherwise got what you wanted. You could try some other rounds to get your growl back and keep the clarity. Personally, from what you said, I would try some Kalium (formerly Circle K) stainless. I have been a fan of their nickels for a while. Their stainless strings are a new thing for them and I put a set on my TL6 and really like them. They are brighter than nickel but not too bright. Not harsh at all. I had pretty much always shied away from stainless strings because reading here made me think they would be too bright and/or harsh. I'm glad I finally decided to try some. Also, I read a comment from Roy Vogt, [paraphrasing] "I can easily tame a bright sounding bass, but it's really hard to add brightness to the sound of a dark-sounding bass." Makes sense to me! One other note, the TL6 is a P bass and the stainless strings sound really good. I haven't tried them on my SB-2, but I think they would sound good on it, too, because, well, P bass.
I added Tone to my SB-2 but I don't use it for the majority of my playing. The "zing" that comes with roundwounds is very noticeable when I play it alone, but in a band mix, the zing disappears and it's just a P on 'roids.As for hand comfort, I got nothing. I do use tapewounds on my SB-2. But, I have 3 other basses that are my main players (TL6 is really #1) and they all have rounds. 4 hour sessions don't bother my hands, even with rounds.
What's with the headstock on the top one? Beautiful collection, in any event.
As a rule of thumb, how much do JB’s and JB2’s usually weight.

Interesting. I had an early 80's SB-1 and the headstock looked nothing like that.
Being a woodworker by trade, I definitely tend to collect the basses that express the beauty of figuring.
Here is my stable of G&Ls and each and every one of them is a thoroughbred. 1981 L-1000, 2001 Asat Bass, 2003 S-500. I've got more pics but you'll have to sign a waiver to verify you are an adult.

Yes, I've been watching the JB model since it came out and they normally run 9.5-10.5 lbs. The only ones I've seen that are less had Empress bodies and it reduces the weight by a pound on average. I don't think I've seen one that's less than 8 lbs yet.
JB-2s are usually lighter, they average 8.0-9.0 lbs, roughly. My Empress JB-2 is 7.0 lbs and sounds great to me. I haven't played an Empress JB yet. My Empress LB-100, L-1000, L-2000, L-1005, and L-2500 all sound great and are super lightweight.
My JB is 10.5lbs which when I go from my empress LB-100 (7.5lbs) is quite a leap. Sounds and plays great but you feel it after a while...
