And do I understand that this will have the M series preamp? If so, they will need something else than the older front control panel, cause all the knobs won't fit on the panel.
Hm. I wonder if they will stick an M pickup there. Has anyone heard anything about that?
Back in the club. Sold my last L2500 about 10 years ago, have wanted another US G&L ever since. Love this beast. I've got DR Legends on it, and it's killer--using it for everything from funk to country. I've never seen another Butterscotch Blonde one, so I'm stoked about that too.

Yes, w the flats I love it single coil with a pick--it's actually pretty P-like that way. Playing single coil up near the neck w/fingers loses most of that "bridge pickup" quality and sounds just like a nice round "Fendery" bass. Playing finger funk right over the pickup in parallel--modern J-bridge meets MM vibe. I just did a show where I had to cover old 60's soul/motown, 70's like Sly, and then to modern Jamiroquai type stuff and with just the coil switch and tone knob I had it all at my fingertips. Pretty cool for such a simple passive bass.
My rig is all GK --Legacy and 12"s. My signal to FOH as with all my basses is nothing but bass>Xotic RC>JDI.
EDIT: one more cool thing--I got this bass new for a steal because it was a "blem"--allegedly the pickup cavity is a tad shallow. But I've got the pickup lowered all the way and it's right where I'd want it, so no biggee. Also, it's ash (which I wanted) and it was not moving because 10lbs is too heavy for some people, so the price got whittled down even more. Score for me--custom color, ash, new bass. Win win win!

Back in the club with this 2011 L2K Tribute! I love me natural finished L2Ks. My previous MIJ Tribute was natural/maple combo but this time I wanted rosewood fingerboard. This neck feels like home and very close to my Stingray's. 12" radius is much more to my liking compared to the 7.25" that MIJ Tributes have.
This one came with a K Mod. Really great sounding, muscular Jazz tones. I'm not much of a single coil guy though, so I don't plan on using it. The wiring in the cavity is probably even more of a rat's nest thanks to it lol.
It lives mostly in series mode both pups on. I took the battery out and I run it only in passive mode. It works fantastically well with my HPF/LPF and BDDI combo.
A very aggressive, punchy, thick but tight and controlled tone. I have the treble on full and bass cut to about 30%. Volume full on. No issues with the signal being too hot, it plays well with all of my pedals, just like my P bass and Stingray do. That said, I boost the signal of my P and Stingray a bit with Broughton BBA, while I don't boost it when using L2K. With the BBA, I control my basses so they have about the same output volume.
Next on the agenda (but no rush):
1. Replace the electronics with the USA preamp wiring kit (no K Mod needed). I'll have to decide on how to handle the different pot sizes.
2. Replace the tuners with G&L Ultralites.
This will turn this already great bass into a total beast.

I've got a L2000 Tribute with the same finish, love it. The wood grain of yours looks better than mine, it's gorgeous.
