I'm not knocking G&L, I only had that bass for a few days before I sent it back. I just like to chat about basses and my experiences which is why I posted about it. It was the 3rd neck on that body, and when I saw the paint didn't match I went through the dealer who helped me get it sent back right away. I then talked with G&L directly and they agreed to make me a new bass altogether, which I had asked for. I have to thank them for that, some companies would have just probably refunded my $$ and been done with it. But, if the first bass with original neck hadn't had problems, I'd still be playing that.
I think G&L made a new body for that new neck, as the bass I sent back had an empress wood body and the "new" bass on reverb has an alder body.
On a side note, I got to speak with Steve Araujo and Memo Romero from G&L both several times and that was pretty cool. They were both super nice, and sure come across as caring about their instruments. I spoke a little Spanish wth Steve also, always trying to practice languages when I get the chance. I was invited to visit them in Fullerton if I wanted to, wish I could make that happen.
I'm not a G&L "artist" but I feel like I know the company a little better now that's for sure.
Yes, Ebony fretboard. I wanted as "black" a board as possible so went with ebony. It looks great with the all black sparkle and the pearl block inlays just pop against the dark color. A side affect I didn't consider, is that the block inlays against the dark board glisten and reflect small amounts of light, on a dark stage or at any time my old eyes can see the positions on the fretboard really easy. I couldn't be happier with that!
