The SB-2 is brighter than an SB-1 thanks to the bridge pickup, so you can blend in extra brightness and simulate rounds I believe. The SB-1 has a tone knob so you can cut highs. The SB-2 lacking a tone knob makes me feel like taming the highs is more important, as you can always blend in the bridge for more of them.

I have a SB-1 and a SB-2 as well. I'm tempted to keep my SB-1 with rounds as it does almost every tone imaginable with those. From bright slap lines to sit-in-the-mix P all is possible using that tone knob. Those split MFDs are awesome pickups.

Of course, YMMV. Doing it the way you are covers more ground, but your SB-1 and SB-2 don't back each other up tonally as well.

Very good points indeed. That's why its been difficult to decide.

Does that happen with the bridge pickup at all? I.e. leave the switch where it's quiet on the neck pickup, and then select the bridge pickup. What does that sound like?

One mode with the switch is supposed to have some volume loss compared to the other. Parallel mode should be quieter than series mode.

No it's Omg loud on every other setting, even parallel. Bridge soloed in series is church mouse mode. I just noticed it yesterday having just received the bass on Friday. I'll do some research today as well as check out the curcirt.

Can any of you guys that ordered your basses new tell me the approximate time you had to wait for your bass to be built and delivered? Got a JB5 that is seven weeks into the process and I am getting kinda antsy ;)

Ah gotcha. Yeah that sounds like a wiring problem. Something is wrong with one of the pickup coils, or the way it's wired up, like a short on one coil or something.
