Thank God they don't make a five stringer or I'd bitterly regret ordering a L-1505.
It is passive from what I can see, and a five banger in it would be awesome!
I tend to run my L1500 in passive anyway without treble boost as it can just be too much

No mods, just pure as it came out the box.
I am quite a simple guy and tend to like the bass as it came out the factory, add the strings I like (GHS Boomers) and then use the basses properties aligned to pedals I like to shape the sound.
Same goes with my ASAT, tend to have the dials and switches fixed to my favourite settings and do the rest after

I'm not a modding addict either, in fact I even play with stock strings for 3 months in order to determine which strings would sound the best on a particular bass. All my basses have different strings on them.
Good to hear someone enjoying their ASAT, I must admit all the neckdive stories have nipped the GAS in the bud.
I'm digging the new 1KT! While the white one on the site looks a bit plain Jane to me, the blue one is absolutely fantastic.
The only change I would want to make would be to cut a new pickguard which sloped into the PU instead of the standard SB guard (I get why they stayed with a shape they already had, designing/manufacturing new parts gets expensive real fast). I would be hoping to go for a pedulla vibe w/ the pickguard, ala this Rapture.

Got my L1.5 second hand with Ernie ball hybrids, gave it a good go for a few months and nearly moved it in as it sounded too harsh, cutting through too much, but to my ears it was reborn with the strings I like.
I have an ASAT strap extender that came with the bass, but the neck dive issues are way overrated, I now use it without and it's fine for me.
Some people will say go for the L2k as its the same electronics, but there is something different and I love the tele shape.
Get the GAS back!

Re the new Kiloton: did anyone notice that it's listed as series/SPLIT/parallel, not series/single/parallel? That implies a modified pickup.
Looks really cool, love the idea of a tone knob. I need one of these. I'd like to order one in Empress if it's available on this model.

I recently acquired an ASAT and although it's not the most comfortable bass to play standing, it sounds freaking awesome. I'm working on a few strap ideas that I will share once I figure out the best way to go.

it seems the M series never really took off like other G&L's. too bad, because I just bought one and am loving it.
some have said the L1500 is too harsh so a passive version with a tone knob to roll back might just rectify that.
an empress bodied kiloton may come in at the 6 lb range (thinner body).
Good point. If true, that would be a new and interesting twist from G&L. In addition to that feature, the ability to also switch to single-coil mode would be even better. Why stop there? Why not be able to choose either coil for s/c mode?
Extrapolating further, a twin pickup model could be the ballz. Kinda like a G&L version of the (deservedly) highly regarded Fender Roscoe Beck. I'd be sorely tempted for a G&L like that.
