since us M2000 guys are a rare bunch-how are you liking yours? I bought mine (USA) two months ago brand new and it is what I have been hoping I would find. just a fantastic well rounded machine in every way. my number one
So far love it,like the way the control knobs that you can feel when they are at half way? I also have the Tribute L2000,with the toggle switches.
I have an USA L2500 too. that is a fantastic machine with the best B going. I find myself playing the M all the time though; its super light and has the sound in my head.
@joebar I'm the opposite. I've got two US L2ks and a Tribute M2500. The Ls are my go-to basses. Don't get me wrong, my M is an amazing bass and really nails that active 5-string tone I wanted, and I'm more than happy with it. But the L is where it's at for me.
Is this true for every L-2000 ever made? I heard once that only L-2000 basses made after a certain era of manufacturing could be used without a battery...
Does anyone know if this is true?

Yes. you can pull the battery on any L bass and it will work in passive mode. best thing is that since it uses a passive tone stack the bass and treble controls work just the same as do most of the switches. I used to play a Lakland 55-02 and it never sounded good to me in passive because the controls no longer functioned.
Just one more reason to love the L series basses. Damn, I feel lucky.
On a side note, does anyone know how much a late 80s L-2000 went for brand new?

I figured I'd try the silver ones because they were only $3.75 and $3.50 for S&H.
Changed the control knobs too.
Now my bass is a little different than all the other silver SB-2s that I never see!

Have a new LB-100 in route to me. I prob won't get her until sometime next week because of the holiday, but I'm super stoked!
Does G&L sometimes make quartersawn necks and not mark them as such on the spec sheet? I'm pretty sure my 2014 SB-2 has one but the specs don't say it.
