FYI, guitars by Leo is just a G&L fan page and not associated directly with the company. They've got a lot of good info, primarily guitar-based, but wouldn't be able to do anything regarding actually generating a new neck.
Unfortunately, I do not have my G&L LB100 under warranty, so I cannot get a replacement neck for it.
I have decided I must sell it or trade.
I have posted it on the classified section. Please let me know if you're interested. It's in excellent condition, and very light.

So I've decided to add a p-pickup to my 1505
Going to wire it up passive with a Vol / Blend / Tonestyler. I'm excited and nervous to do this but I found a good luthier recommended by the place I purchased the bass from to do the work. Attached a mock-up pic of what will be the end result 
Wish me luck and I'll post pics as soon as it's done ;-)

Very interesting. I've often thought about getting a l1500 and installing an MFD closer to the neck then a l2000 just for fun. Should be some cool tones on your design. Are you going to use a switch to split the coils in the MFD? Who's p pup are you going to use?

That MFD pickup is pretty strong... what pickup do you have in mind that wont be overpowered by the stock MFD? And like dabbler (above), I too would like to know more about the positioning of the new pickup. Should be a fun project!

Even though it's not under warranty, you can still get a replacement neck for it. The downside is it'll cost around $600 for a replacement depending on options. If the bass is important enough to you, then go for it. If not, cut your losses and move it along as you've already stated.

I'm going to use a blend pot to even out the balance of the 2 pickups. The pickup I'm going to use is a M&V Atlas H.O. 5. As for the positioning the pickup in reverse, I based that a few basses I've played that have a reverse p and I just like the sound ( a little less boomy?)
Pickup I will be using is M&V Atlas H.O. 5
I'm going to leave the stock switch for the series / parallel on the MFD.

I've owned and played many G&L's over the years and have loved them, the one model that has always eluded me is the LB-100. No local dealers around to play one and I've always owned some sort of P, mainly a SB-1 for the past several years to handle all the p-bass work.
I could never find the right spec in the classifieds for an LB so I bit the bullet and placed a custom order:
Alder
#8 quartersawn rosewood
Ruby red metallic
Matching headstock
Tort
Guaranteed to be under 9lbs
Build time is about three weeks. Will post pics after she arrives.

Nice. I always seem to have a preference to Alder when it comes to a P style bass. When I built mine a couple years back I went with a warmouth Alder body and an All Parts J neck. Suits me perfectly.

I seem to be in a state of confusion. Are ASAT/L-2000s passive basses loaded with a preamp, or are they considered active basses?
All three is the real answer. Passive sounds great, active gives you a little more omph, (my personal favorites) and finally active with a treble boost which is a slap monster.
I love my p's & j's but one of these will always be in the toolbox.
I personally think of it more like a passive bass with a buffer and treble boost built in.
