G&L Club Part 7

.....I just love the binding on these G&L's!

Me too!

My L-2500 has a few optional features that I love (matching headstock, K-mod pickup switching, and markerless fingerboard) but it doesn't have the body binding. Can't have everything, I guess. :D

And if you haven't seen mine, just say the word. I'm always happy to post some gratuitous L-2500 photos. For that matter, I'm equally happy to ask @/\/\3phist0 to post some of his, too. :D :D :D

Hi, Ive been looking at some G&L's lately...does anyone here know why sometimes there is a metal plate "made in fullerton" on back of headstock and sometimes it is just painted or watermarked?

Yeah, that's just how they did it for a couple years there. Fairly recently tho I can't remember the specific years.
2014-ish...

"post 'em if you got 'em."

And why not throw in a bonus shot of the headstock, too (the TI Jazz Flats are long gone, though):

I put a white pearloid on that recently as the tort was too dark, for me...

QUOTE="dave64o, post: 21770407, member: 5769"]Oooooooooooooh .... Love the finish on both (with extra credit for the tort on the Kiloton) but that trans finish, maple fingerboard, and binding on the L take that one up another level!

Not to bore you all, with the Asat,I just got,but finding out more this is not a true fretless,as it was advertised? Which is fine, with me just wish full disclosure had been made? This was a fretted bass originally, the side dots, and the center fret dots, are all in alignment. So if I understand I can note the same way,as I would a fretted neck, because the neck is not setup as a fretless, other than it is minus the metal frets. Hope you understand my not knowing that much about how the fretless basses necks are marked? So after I was made aware of that from discussing this on bassesbyleo website, that is my conclusion. I plan on keeping the bass, just may go ahead and put metal frets back on the neck.

I'd vote for the "give it 6-12 months" option, unless you have an immediate need to have it fretted. I'm sure the luthier would still be willing to do the work then.
Thanks, for the information,I was told that if the side dots are in the middle of the ghost lines, that it was a fretted neck. Yes the dots are in the middle of the ghost lines. So I figure I can play it just like I would a fretted neck. Which that is fine with me,I just love the bass. May put new metal frets back on the neck,so won't damage the fret board?

I like the pearl better on that. I did just order a tort guard for the LB-100 in my avatar. It should be here next week. The JB5 I have has white but I'm going to order pearl for that.
