G&L Club Part 7

My solution to the fact that I just don't get along with the Climax/L1500/Kiloton tone - and that G&Ls that have a neck that fits my hand and a weight that makes my shoulder happy are harder and harder for me to find:

A bit of a hack job but I did learn a lot (I do every time I do one of these projects). Had fun using the 3D printer for a couple of things (routing template - qualified success, fill in structure for MFD HB spot - success).

I guess I can list the MFD HB & workings (preamp, pots) from the Climax wiring as it's not going back to that config now :)

I've thought about doing some similar work on my L2500 from time to time. Good for you going for gold!

That's awesome.

I'd be curious to know how the PTB system would sound with the split MFD. Since you got an extra hole and all...

Yes, it's 800. The neck/pocket date is July/August of 1980, which I think is in the first month or two?

The problem with final weight is it can be all over the place. Regardless of whether you go with Basswood or Ash on average you could end up slightly over 9lbs or slightly less with a few trending towards 10lbs and a few trending towards 8lbs.

I have two Basswood Squier Classic vibes that go 9lbs 4-5ozs and my Ash body L2500 Tribute is 9lbs 13ozs which may stand to reason because it's a fiver. IMHO the only way to assure yourself of a lightweight bass is use Empress Wood.

If a 9lb bass isn't too heavy for you I think you could find what you're looking for in the Tribute Series or the US Series. If the bass is in stock most G&L dealers would be happy to weigh one you may be interested in for you.
