Yes exactly. From what I could tell with the schems I found, older basses have one less wire per pickup. I thought they added an additional wire when ordered from the factory so the sc wiring would be different.
I have seen a few of these diagrams but I dont recall seeing the full pdf. Thanks for providing it!

I never really liked the inner coils sound that came from the factory. Yesterday @Raw N Low came over with his L2500 modded with outer coils. That sounds much more musical to my ears.
@metron in theory, if you look at the switch so that it's laid out 3 poles vertically and 4 poles horizontally, you're looking at the switch as two side-by-side switches (3 vertical 2 horizontal x 2).
Note what connections go where on each half, then just reverse them. i.e. make the right half look like the left and the left half look like the right.

Hey guys just a quick question. I posted a thread in the bass guitar section, but didn't get any responses I figured I would try here. Anyway I was looking at the new G&L Fullerton Standard LB 100 in emerald on adorama.com. I'm curious as to see if anyone has one? And what are your thoughts on it, for example, quality, how does it compare to a Fender P bass? Any other input would be greatly appreciated. I ask because a p bass is an option for my next purchase, or at least thinking about it. I have a Ric and Fender Jazz basses already and well been GASSing for a P bass.

Interesting. Outer coils have a J-bass kind of quality to them, especially when both on; inner coils have a vaguely Music Man kind of feel. I've tried both on my L and prefer inner to outer—but it's lovely to have the choice.
They're great, it's basically a USA LB-100 with only four choices of woods/colors available. They're made on the same production line by the same folks who make the regular USA basses. I've got an EMB/RW one here in stock, though it's not up on my site yet. The LB-100 is a great P-style bass, I own two of them myself.
Posted a few threads that might help below. I do not have an LB100, but I do have 3 G&Ls (JB5, L5000, L2500). I have also played the LB100 a few times in a local shop. If you buy one, you will be getting a quality American made P Bass. Not sure which Fender P Bass you are considering. My personal feeling is that the LB100 is the P bass taken a few steps farther in its development (for example the G&L saddle lock bridge). Nothing that drastically deviates from the P formula. Just a little bit more.
For what it is worth, I have played several Fenders and have never wanted to buy one (with the exception of a Roscoe Beck signature that I stayed away from because it had neck issues). I own 3 G&Ls and will likely own more at some point. I prefer the feel of G&L basses (balance, neck profile, string spacing). You may not. Moral of this part... try one if you can find one. If you cannot find an American one, a Tribute might give you enough of an idea (though there are differences).
The big place Fender wins over G&L is brand recognition and resale value as a percent of original price paid. This is a generalization and I am sure you can find instances where that is not true. That said, G&L has closed that gap quite a bit since I bought my first one on June 3, 2002 (my new L2500 cost $1085 shipped from CA to IN back then).

AWESOME thank you guys So Much. there isn't much info out there let alone real world expierence. The Fenders I do have are both jazz bass American made. I will definitely read those threads. Again Thank you the information is much appreciated!
For sure! I do hear a J bassish vibe with outers and I dig that. Inners are honky to my ears. Not a sound I find very useful. I dont really hear a Ray sound there but if I did, that wouldn't be better. No likey Stingrays!
I've tried both, too, and actually prefer the inner. But my L2k with the single coil mode is currently wired with outers and I'm too lazy to change it. Haha. Really, of any single coil options, neck solo with the inner coil is my favorite, and my L1k does that anyway. So I'm just keeping it as is so I feel like I have different options...

(of course now that I post it, they will announce this next week and I'll have to eat my words - I'm not in the position to buy a new bass ATM)
