My JB is about 7.5 lbs and has no neck dive. It is the most comfortable bass I own.
As far as my ears are concerned it sounds absolutely wonderfully jazzy to me. I was playing it at a jam session last week through a GK Backline 600 into a 2x15 JBL PA cab and it sounded fantastic! The guy that hosts the jam asked if I was playing an active bass. I said, no, it's just a stock G&L. All he did was roll his eyes

I have a 72' and a 74' J.
I brought my new to me JB-2 to a rehearsal on Wednesday night and was blown away at the quality.
It didn't sound exactly like either of my J's, but it was awesome and played much better.
As far as trying them, I live in MD near washington DC and there isn't a G&L dealer within an hour drive (with any stock as the 3 GC's bear me don't stock them). For that matter, Rocket Music doesn't list any tribute instruments so no telling where I can try one.
Wish they ahd better distribution as we can demo alot of high end basses here.

My Empress LB-100 is just over 7 lbs and beautifully resonant when not plugged in. I don't have any sense of neck dive when playing—but I routinely use a ridiculously wide Gruv Gear strap.
I also love my JB-2. It's a Tribby that I've put Barts in. It's fun having a "jazz" bass built on an L-series body that'll actually sit gracefully in a (non-hanging) floor stand.

I am in the same boat as you. I live right out side Philly. I dont think I am all that far from you. I've been looking for the Fuller Standard model. The only stock I have found is in NYC at Adorama. Which is more camera store but I have heard good things about them. I'm not sure what other G&L models they carry.

You should give Reston Music a call. They had two Tribs and a US bass in stock last time I was there.

So someone on here is the lucky owner of my Rocket Music special run L1000 fretless. Every time I think of that bass I kinda regret selling it, even if I never really bonded with it. P Bass style instruments and I have always had a love hate relationship. It's most definitely me, and not the bass(es), and that one is an awesome axe for sure. So I decided I wanted to give a more specifically Precision style variant a go, and went with the LB100. I considered strongly an SB1, but decided to go with something less similar to the L1000 (in a way).
Without further ado from the G&L Instagram page, is my new bass. 8 pounds pretty much on the nose, and playing like a champ right out of the case:

Have you called Music Museum in Pitman, NJ? They carry G&L and had some basses in stock when I visited late last year, and it's not too far from Philly. Pretty cool place.
Roxy Guitar in Philly is also a G&L dealer, but they usually don't have many basses and have extremely limited hours. Weird place, but for guitars it is fantastic.
Unfortunately it's slim pickins' for G&L around here. Bass Specialties was awesome, but closed several years ago, and West Chester Music's site indicates they have virtually no G&L stock. Might be worth calling them though, because a few months ago the new owner told me he did want to get rolling with G&L again, and the site might not be up to date. For years, West Chester had lots of G&L (especially guitars of course), and it was a great shop. I bought an L-1500 and Comanche there.
Awesome!! Thank you for the heads up, I haven't checked Music Museum yet but I will now. I found the Fullerton Standard lb 100 at Adorama in NYC but I want a hands on before I drop the money. I am used to a jazz bass setup, but the odd man out is my Rickenbacker. I want the p bass to round out my stable of instruments. The lb 100 in the emerald blue just hits the right buttons for me.
Did someone say SB-2? Here's mine, from 96. I picked it up in 07 (?) from eBay and love it. 3 bolt neck, sounds like a beast. I got a L1K earlier this year and it supplanted the SB-2 but I vow to play it out again real soon.

BTW, does anyone know for sure what the "official" G&L name for this somewhat uncommon finish was? It's not Cherryburst, doesn't look like any G&L Honeyburst or Tobaccoburst I've seen or owned. Been wondering for years.

It also doesn't look anything like my honeyburst Stingray 5HH, but I thought Musicman's honeyburst and G&L's honeyburst were pretty different - and, right or wrong, my recollection is that their honeyburst looked a lot like yours. I checked the G&L website but unfortunately didn't even see the honeyburst.

When I put it in the G&L registry, I called it Tobacco Sunburst. But looking at the USA finish page on the G&L site, it looks like it may be Old School Tobacco Sunburst instead. Check out the website SB-1 and a close up of my SB-2. Looks really close to me.
Nice drool-worthy LB100 there- the grain is very similar to my 1980 L1K fretless. This should be the L1K from Rocket's 2014 run of 10 that you're speaking of as I think there was only one fretless. CraigB was nice enough to part with her (he takes great pics too!). Slimmest G&L neck I've ever handled and she sure does sing but your naked board LB-100 is the epitome of Leo Precision thump. Oh yeah- in the unlikely scenario where you unbond with her as she whispers dark dreams of the Sonoran Desert...

My M-2500 Tribute is Honeyburst and has more red tone than some other honey bursts I've seen. Yours could be Honeyburst
