Hey guys!!! Unfortunately I am having to sell most of my bass gear due to health issues. The questions I would like to ask are: do any of you guys have a G&L Tribute for sale? I absolutely love G&L basses, and want to try a Tribute.
Also, for those of you that own Tributes, where did you get it? Who is the best dealer to buy Tributes from??

I usually stick with Sweetwater for most of my online purchases, but they were surprisingly not a G&L retailer.

So I went with American Music Supply for my L-2500 Tribute. For used instruments, there's always Reverb.com and MusicGoRound.com

I bought my L-2500 USA 20 years ago this year. I replaced the preamp and pots, Jack, and knobs with the OEM direct from G&L, I kept the original parts. However at 10+ lbs I can't play it anymore. Any ideas of what this bass is worth? Other than a few cosmetic cracks in the laquer on the back it sounds and plays great. I would give it a 7 out of 10, due to some general wear and tear over the years.

Well, if it were left handed it'd be on its way to me right now. But unless you're a supporting member I don't think you can do "what's it worth?" posts but I could be wrong.

The case is identical to my '80 L1000 case, even the color of the plush.

I would agree - my '81 L2K has the same case as well - for now anyway as the case is literally falling apart. It served its purpose as a shipping container but the bass deserves a new case.

If all the work is professional quality, I'd estimate around $1100. I could be off a bit, but I think that's close. GLWTS!

Musician's Friend and Sweetwater I've done business with and have always had a positive experience.
That said, I have two Tributes, M2500 and L2500, and purchased both from a local brick and mortar store's inventory. Atlanta Discount Music keeps G&L in stock and want to give them a positive mention.

I thought I'd share this in case anyone finds it useful. I made it because I was curious about the relative position of the Kilo pickup compared to the L2000 pickups, and it sort of spiraled from there.

All the pics are current images from G&Ls website except for the El Toro.

I aligned the nut and 12th frets as well as I could (gray lines) and indicated the locations of the Jazz pickups in the JB (blue lines) and P pickup in the LB100 (red line) to use as a reference. You can see where all the pickups are relative to those.

Accuracy is pretty good as limited by photo quality and my ability to shift the pics around in tiny increments in ppt.

This image makes it clear why the neck pickup in my El Toro sounds passably like a P bass.

Nice. I did that too a while back. L1500 is right where the Kiloton is. I think when I did mine the bottom row of pole pieces in the L1500 was aligned with the top row of pole pieces on the L-2000.

Hi folks need your help,I want to do the K mod to a L2500.
I know nothing about electronics so a tech will do it.

Now every tech I talked to says give me a scheme.
I have read all the threads and the info is confusing.
One scheme mentions an aguilar pre amp,another has extra mods,the original hand drawing on bassesbyleo seems diffrent.

What I would like is a scheme I can give a tech that works for sure to avoid misunderstandings.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I am pretty sure a black L2500 compatible bridge does not exist. Only 5 string with black crinkle hardware was L5000. It is likely impossible to find (they only made around 400 of them) and not the right spacing anyway.

If you are going that route and don't want to use your current bridge, then used ones pop up occasionally. G&L also sells them on their website for around $90.

Powder coat would be the way to go.
