agree. the amount of iridescence is subtle, but very nice.
I honestly hadn't thought of that. did not realize there was such a thing. Thanks.

Speaking of white G&Ls...has anyone got their mitts on the new white G&L L2000 Trib? Looks like GC and others finally have them in stock. My local shop doesn't have them in yet...if any of you have actually handled one, I am wondering if anything stuck out.

Just got the 84 El Toro,off the brown truck,couple hours ago. NBD,has the original fitted hard shell case with keys,and owner's manual. Normal wear for 36 year old bass guitar. Few dings,nothing major,sounds great through the SWR LA15. Tuners are not the orgiinal tuners,but nice Hipshot tuners. Had couple El Toro's back in the 80's,but have forgotten what each toggle switch
represents? Black,Red,White,any help appreciated.

Nice Gary. Man, I am so enjoying this L2000 I got from Lee. Quite honestly, when not working on something down-tuned for my band on those basses, the L2000 and Matador are the two that get all my playing time at home.
I have a Tribute L2k in 3 color burst with a vintage tone maple neck. I got a really fair deal on it from a TBer local to me. I love the neck on it but I'm not a fan of the darker color of the burst finish. There is now a tobacco burst finish one for sale near me with rosewood fretboard. Would it be wrong of me to buy it and swap the necks and resell the burst and rosewood combo? They're both well out of warranty by now. Thoughts?
as long as the necks fit exact, an exact swap, and you disclose the swap to potential buyers.

what a great G&L week this has been! my Tribute Fallout arrived yesterday.
First impression: this compact L-1000 rocks!, excellent build quality, and super comfy to play.

So what does one of these sound like? A cross between an L2K and a jazz bass?
An admin on the guitarsbyleo forum wrote this on a table comparing the impedance of various G&L pickups: "Though a smaller unit than the usual L-2000 style MFD, this humbucker puts out pro quality tone. It has more midrange than its larger brother, but EQ'ing at the amp can bring it into the same league. These are exceptionally fine sounding for modern slap and pop or tapping styles of playing." Going by that table, those pickups were only in the El Toro and the Interceptor.
This (like the Fender Mustang) is a short scale bass i could get on with!
She's gorgeous! Those pickups sure have a voice all their wine, don't they? I feel my Interceptor's tone is like a more powerful Jazz bass that isn't scooped. Sounds great live and recorded.
The switches are:
Black: pickup selector
Red: Series/Parallel
White: Preamp on/off
Keep in mind when series mode is engaged, both pickups are used no matter the position of the black switch. Enjoy!
Nope. They haven't been made since 1991-ish when the El Toro and Interceptor were discontinued. It's very rare to find a set on the used market.

Just got word that my Matador has entered production. Unfortunately, the 1.5" nut spacing is not available as an option for the Matador, so I'm gonna have to stick to 1 5/8". A bit of a bummer, but I'm sure it'll be a killer bass either way

Im guessing because they use CLF L1K/L2K necks?
