G&L L-1000 Bleg

^^ Sadly, no. I'm still waiting for answers to all of the outstanding questions... that's the only reason it's not open season for taking deposits right now. I think there's enough interest that we can make it happen, assuming lefties are a possibility. Hopefully a 5-string, too.

Yahoo!!! I just now received positive responses on all of my open questions with G&L.

Lefty? YES!
5 String? YES!
Default 4-string Neck: #12 (other neck profiles available for $50 upcharge)

So these basses will have an MSRP of $1500 (4-string) or $1700 (5-string). That includes a hardshell case and free shipping. All of the other usual G&L options are available on these basses at the usual upcharge(s).

Here's exactly what G&L had to say:
"This special run L-1000 will be built to look like other G&L basses with newer headstock, L-1500 body shape, no control plate, back loaded controls, original passive electronics, original pickup placement, and the #12 Modern C Neck as standard features. Any additional charges for options would apply. Also available left-handed and 5 string version"

A picture is worth a thousand words, so here's how it would a righty 4-string will look.

Since lefties are a yes, I'm in! Let us know when you're doing the deposits.

So now for the fun part! I'll try to make this as orderly a process as possible. The only real trick is that I need to submit all of the orders at the same time, and it can be a bit like herding cats trying to get multiple folks to place deposits in a reasonable amount of time.

I think the best way to proceed will be to put a firm time limit on the open window of opportunity to get deposits submitted. So let's say that roughly two weeks from now (Monday June 23), the ordering window will close. That should give everyone sufficient time to settle on some final specs and get a firm quote from me, and then it's just a matter of coming up with $200-$300 for the deposit.

I've already taken 1 deposit, and I'll green light the run of 6 instruments with as few as 4 deposits. So if 3 more folks step up, then this limited run of L-1000/L-1005 instruments will be a definite go!

Please PM me your specs if you'd like a quote!

. . . SNIP . . .

#1 - A 5-String? I have never seen a 5-string L-1000. A 5-String ASAT? Yep, seen that. But not a 5-string L-1000. If I could play fivers or was into collecting that's what I'd get. But since I like my necks skinny I'll just stick with a plain old 4.

#2 - that floor looks familiar to me :)

I'm trying to upload a couple more pics and failing - let me try a different browser . . . Chrome worked, Firefox failed

Here are couple of more pics (I've still got the CAR one)

Yeah, I'm calling the 5-string the L-1005. Today's models are the L-1500 and L-1505, so that makes sense to me. Who knows what G&L will call it?!? LOL

I'm up to 2 official deposits, so we're getting there! And I'm doing lots of quotes, so I'm feeling like we'll get to 6 pretty easily!

Here's another cool thing I learned today after getting a few requests for an aged look with the Natural finish... turns out G&L now offers a Vintage Natural finish, which is a tinted/aged/amber looking Natural finish. It'll make your Natural L-1000 look like it was built in 1980!

Same price as Natural (it's a Premier finish = $100 MSRP).
