I don't think so. I'm getting that response A LOT. :)

They have had [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] out for a while now, and that's fairly similar (single pickup L-Series bass, but the pickup is scooted towards the bridge. and it's active). But it's not quite the same!

Make that 4 deposits received! That makes it official. This limited run will definitely happen because I'm happy to order two of these for my store inventory.

Don't let this slow you down, though, if you're considering an order in this run. Once I place the batch order on Monday June 23, I won't be able to order any more without going through this same process all over again (coming up with at least 6 orders to do a second run).

Hey Greg- what's the lead time on completion of them? I want to make sure I have all my ducks in row before they ship.

G&L typically takes just 2-3 months to make an instrument to order.

I asked G&L about that a few days ago for somebody else, and unfortunately their response on that was a "no". Sorry!

I would say slim to none. Unless G&L is already planning to do it, they wouldn't undertake something like that for just 5 or 6 orders. I've done two limited runs with them now, and both of those have been things that they've made before but stopped making at some point. So they just have to dust off some old designs and make a few instruments. A 5-string ASAT would be an entirely new CNC program for the body, and that would only happen through their normal R&D process. Sorry about that!!

Yes, indeed. I'm slowly making progress towards this. I got the "G&L (On Order)" section added to my site yesterday, and then I've been covered up doing quotes and setting up orders ever since. Man, we're up to 9 deposits now! This has been wildly popular so far, and I don't think we're really close to being done. I've got a bunch of quotes still out there...

I'm interested. Played an L1000 once, passed on it, its one of those "gee wish i would have done that". Let me do some readings. Not really any dealers near me. Used to be one in Phila and he closed up last uear. What G&L neck profile is like a jazz neck?

The Aerodyne has a vintage radius according the Fender's website, that would be a #6 for G&L. Carvin lists their radius as 14" which is closest to G&L's #8, both are Jazz width. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

I'll do a # 8 neck for sure then. My carvin is an awesome bass i picked up for $500 off CL. Its a jazz clone B4 model with a solid koa body. After i bought it, for a lark i used Carvins bass bulder on their website, to build the same bass today would cost you about $1350, and mine came with the usa made tweed wood case, no longer offerred!
