Interesting. I'm sure they're just using whatever their latest method is for that stuff. They only recently went away from the screwed-on serial number plate, but I'm not sure when the jack transition took place. Honestly, I hadn't even noticed that...

When I post these 5 new LB-100's in another thread, you'll see that there's a mix of serial number plates vs serial numbers etched on the back of the headstocks. So that just tells me that some were made before the transition, and some were made after.

I saw a few football jacks in 2015 if I remember right, then it changed over more fully early last year. Like usual with G&L, some new features leak out early, and some older stuff comes out months later so the changeover is spread out.

Can anyone confirm that the switch in the forward position is the "OMG" mode, middle position is single coil, and rear position is both coils? That is how it seems to my ears at least. Also, is the middle knob for treble and the rear knob for bass? I know the knobs are cut only, but I was expecting the treble knob to act like a Fender Precision tone control knob (which really cuts highs as it is rolled down), and that does not seem to be the case.

Just realize that this is a totally passive instrument, so when they talk about "bass boost", they really mean the OMG mode which is series mode (i.e. louder) with a capacitor across one of the coils to roll off some treble. So series gets you the "boost", and the cap gets rid of some treble to make it sound like a "bass boost".

This second run of L-1000 basses is finally winding down! I've got two more inventory pieces to post (making a total of 3 brand new 2017 L-1000 basses that are available), and there's also one more custom order that is one the way to me from the G&L factory in CA.

Here's a gorgeous L-1000 in Natural/Rosewood with a Light Tint Satin neck finish. This bass is looking for home, so let me know if you're interested! I can beat all of the G&L prices shown on my website, and am happy to do so.

Alright! Here's the last L-1000 to arrive from this second run. And just like that, this run is concluded! Wish I could say "easy peasy". Haha. Thanks again to everyone who was so patient as I struggled to get these things on order in the first place. I'm so glad it has concluded successfully!

And let's not forget that I still have three 2017 L-1000's in stock! Let me know if you're interested in taking one home!

Poor, poor, pitiful me! Hehe... Full credit to Greg for doing a careful set-up at his end, identifying a problem and getting G&L to make me a new neck. There's more than one reason to work with Rocket Music to service your G&L addiction!

Thought I'd bump this ride back up to the top. Mine (Invalid Link Removed) sounded great last night, and it's hard to say which setting I like best. Last night I'd say parallel, treble full up and bass at @ halfway.

Greg has a couple on hand, including the insanely priced special of the week. The L1000 is an unbelievably cool model that Greg was able to get G&L to reissue, and y'all should grab one of the ones he has left!

I think I could convince them to do another bulk run. But as poorly as that last run went from my perspective (I'm still in the hole from that run, sitting on 3 L-1000's that I had to order just to get close to the minimum number they wanted me to order), I'm in no hurry to do that again. :(

As a result of that run, though, the good news is that they now have all the necessary jigs and CNC programming to make this bass just like any other model. And at some point, Ron Moreno even said off handedly to me that they should just bring that model back into production. This was many months ago, though, and that hasn't happened yet.

Well that sucks, Greg! I can't figure why those three L-1000's haven't moved. For the record I'm enjoying the heck out of my bass from that last run you did (and I'm still grateful). I had it out for a big band gig the other night to cover three "light rock" style charts and it was sweet! My k-modded L2500 will do 2 out of 3 tricks that the Wunkay does, but I really enjoy the simplicity of this 4-string, one pickup bass. Also, the one extra trick the L-2500 won't do, the OMG series setting, is well worth the ride. I enjoy the Wunkay more than my L-1500 and more than the Kiloton I've tried. It's warm and really useful in practical situations. Plus mine has the prettiest sunburst.

Awesome - yeah, I'm definitely glad I was able to fulfill all the special orders that I did take, that was my biggest concern at the time. I'm very grateful for the sales that did happen as a result of that run!

It was just such a struggle to wrangle enough orders (I never did), and then the situation was dragged out for a long time because I was unaware that the former head G&L sales guy already had one foot out the door. Oy. I just remember feeling like I was over a barrel for about 2 months. LOL

All's well that ends well!
