G&L L2500 Pickguard ... Check it out.

From the photos, looks like 5 black holes in the bridge.
Sorry for my ignorance. Never mind. Carry on.

EDIT:

Actually no, YOUR bass has six screws holding the bridge down (and I didn’t refer to your bass...). Not the OP’s... I retract my apology.

No need at all - I looked at the OP's images, but couldn't see if they were screws or holes, so I went down and looked at my bass. Looks like the bridge has undergone some changes over the years.

I noticed that only the Natural one is strung through the body while the blue ones are through the bridge. You aren’t weary of those two little screws holding the bridge down?

No. All my G&Ls have been modded with threaded inserts under the bridge with socket-head machine screws to hold it down. Those bridges are going nowhere. Why G&L (Leo) never put a couple more screw holes along the back edge of the bridge I'll never know. I sort of gave up on through-body because I had to order extra-long strings to have them fit properly. But I did want to keep the option of string-though open so I went this way rather than the bridge mod of screws through the string holes.

Where did everybody go?, A little quiet around here. I was hoping to see pages upon pages of G&L's with many varieties of pickguards. Ok I'll try to revive the passion. The pinstriping is a concept, may or may not keep. Most likely I may just clean it up.

I didn’t want a pickguard for an L2500 with that unsightly space so I decided to go a different route entirely.

By the way, someone just had a pickguard cut for his L2000 and started a thread a few days ago.
I havent been on here for awhile, I'll look for it thanks. I just modded my Jazz guard to fit the G&L, where is that guard from pictured on the blue 4 banger?.

I just sent them an email to find out a ballpark price. I have the blueburst Tribby L2500 and want something that would complement the colors. I've had my bass for about a week and can already see some marks from playing. I think they'll buff out but I'd rather have a sacrificial piece of plastic that can be replaced occasionally

I don’t know how long Tony keeps the templates but if for some reason he doesn’t have the L2000 anymore, I’m happy to share.

Heya. I just contacted Tony at Pickguardian about about a guard for my 4-string L2000. He must not have the template any longer. If you still have yours and can share the specs I'd be very appreciative. Thanks!

I'll take a look for it but I'm not sure I have it anymore either. I have pdf which i could send you but not sure that it would be to scale. You'd have to print it out and check.

Attached is a .jpg of my pickguard template, which I made from a scan several years ago of the actual drawing. Be advised that when you print these things out the scale is not absolute.

I would advise to print one out on paper, cut it out with an xacto knife, and make sure it fits your bass before actually cutting any plastic. Some scale adjustment may be necessary.

Outstanding. Thank you.

As I've said here many times My G&L L2500 basses are my favorite axes. I used them a lot for blues and though 5 string they raise no eyebrows. Several blues bassists in town also play G&L and they seem very popular. But they are slightly "modern" looking with no pickguards so perusing TB I happened upon a G&L with a pickguard and got "influenced" (I stole the idea). How about some custom pickguards that just stick on so you can switch a look from "Old school" to "modern" by taking the guard on and off. Even change it's color! No screws to leave ugly holes when the guard is off, just sticky tape to hold it in place.

Well I drew something up and hauled it to Tony at Pickguardian and this is the result:

On or off or swap colors around if you are in the mood. MOST COOL! Check out that "swizzly" one in the middle. Tony suggested "Carpet tape" to hold them in place. That's a thin double sticky tape on a paper roll. Works like a CHAMP. Guards come on and off at will. Does not seem to hurt finish or guards. Guard firmly in place. Just use 4 little squares of tape at corners.

And best of all if you want one too, contact Tony at Pickguardian.com as he has the master pattern for these. No, I don't have anything to do with Pickguardian, I'm just a regular customer there.
Wait a minute, three separate custom pickguards and no tort to be found? Sir, do you know where you are?!

Solved my own problem - got these made (along with one in the obligatory tort) at PickGuardian. Fastens with two-sided tape. Easily removed without damaging the finish. Visual relief from too much blue.

I realise some of this thread is quite old now but I really like the look of the L2x00 with a pickguard.
I think the P bass style pickguards look great, and I think aesthetically an L series bass with this pickguard and the metal control plate would look awesome.
