G&L L2500 Pickguard ... Check it out.

Been searching the threads for information on this - I've got a L2000 that's screaming for a pickguard with a contrasting color. My plan is to have one made without holes and try it out with double sided tape before I attach it for good, but I've been stymied by the lack of templates. Do you or anyone else have a source for these? I hear reference to Japanese versions, but I'm not sure whether you're referring to basses or pickguards, and if so, where they might be available...I've not been able to find any useful information so far on the web.

Solved my own problem - got these made (along with one in the obligatory tort) at PickGuardian. Fastens with two-sided tape. Easily removed without damaging the finish. Visual relief from too much blue.

Wow!

I love my L-2500 as-is and the only reason I ever thought about a pickguard is because all my basses are bursts, including my L-2500, and every one except my L-2500 has a tortoise shell pickguard (yep, I'm *that* guy! :D). But since the cherryburst looks so nice, especially with the matching headstock, I think it looks perfect as is.

However, I think your pickguard pattern and your color choices look fantastic on those basses. Nicely done!

Side point...it's fun to see a bunch of love tossed at the L-2500s. I have been playing my Tribute L-2500 since I was 15 years old (so for the last 14 years haha). It has outlasted anything else I've ever owned as my workhorse and I will never get rid of it. Maybe one day I'll get to bring a full-fledged G&L into the fold but this thing has really served me well. She deserves to have the option of wearing a pickguard for a night out from time to time!

Wow! Came out Great! I must say this: I really hate plain all-white pickguards (I think they look cheap...I love pearloid though which some people think looks cheap) and I'm not much of a fan of stickers either for the same reason. BUT, "Lady Luck" is SO COOL I can't help loving it. It's the exception that proves the rule! Totally killer!

I presume since you had several pickguards made, Tony at Pickguardian probably made a template of your design as he did for mine which means that now he can make guards for either the L2000 or L2500 by just asking.

I don’t know how long Tony keeps the templates but if for some reason he doesn’t have the L2000 anymore, I’m happy to share.

I just bought my G&L 2 days ago and like all of my basses it gets Tort. I had an extra Precision guard brand new that had been waiting for action. I repurposed it to accent my G&L. The hole puncher came in handy, I had a matching Tort decal sheet that I used to punch out fillers for where the screw holes are. No drilling. Added my chicken heads too. Starting to really feel like its mine now:)

As I've said here many times My G&L L2500 basses are my favorite axes. I used them a lot for blues and though 5 string they raise no eyebrows. Several blues bassists in town also play G&L and they seem very popular. But they are slightly "modern" looking with no pickguards so perusing TB I happened upon a G&L with a pickguard and got "influenced" (I stole the idea). How about some custom pickguards that just stick on so you can switch a look from "Old school" to "modern" by taking the guard on and off. Even change it's color! No screws to leave ugly holes when the guard is off, just sticky tape to hold it in place.

Well I drew something up and hauled it to Tony at Pickguardian and this is the result:

On or off or swap colors around if you are in the mood. MOST COOL! Check out that "swizzly" one in the middle. Tony suggested "Carpet tape" to hold them in place. That's a thin double sticky tape on a paper roll. Works like a CHAMP. Guards come on and off at will. Does not seem to hurt finish or guards. Guard firmly in place. Just use 4 little squares of tape at corners.

And best of all if you want one too, contact Tony at Pickguardian.com as he has the master pattern for these. No, I don't have anything to do with Pickguardian, I'm just a regular customer there.
I noticed that only the Natural one is strung through the body while the blue ones are through the bridge. You aren’t weary of those two little screws holding the bridge down?

This is all new to me, I just assumed the bridge had an optional location to string through. I hope someone can weigh in on this. Thanks.
As far as I have read, G&L highly recommends stringing through the body to ensure the two bridge screws are not strained and potentially pull out under string tension.
My L2500 is older and does not have the thru-body option, so I don’t have personal experience.

There have been quite a few threads on this subject about 8-10 years ago. Someone actually came up with a parts list to use the thru-body holes as a “thru-body bolt system” for better anchoring.

Not sure what you're asking, but there are six screws holding the bridge down.
From the photos, looks like 5 black holes in the bridge.
Sorry for my ignorance. Never mind. Carry on.

EDIT:

Actually no, YOUR bass has six screws holding the bridge down (and I didn’t refer to your bass...). Not the OP’s... I retract my apology.

Bummer, I may have to go buy new strings now. I use nickel wound but they came with chromes witch ran through the body.
