G&L Order Placed...the Waiting Begins!

Well unfortunately the bass has to go back. According to my local guy there is a hump in the neck around the 13th fret. The dealer I bought if from says it was fine when he shipped it out, so I don't know. Maybe going from the California climate to the winter climate of New Hampshire did something, or he really didn't notice it.

I'm waiting on G&L to give me a call today so I know what to do next.

It sucks since I've waited so long, but at this point I can wait a little longer for it to be perfect.

I don't think humps like that can happen during shipping. It was probably there from the get to and the dealer didn't notice it. Action at 1/16" is pretty darn low though.

Having a hump in the neck is quite common. Rarely will a neck be perfectly straight. I check for neck straightness on every bass I'm considering buying. Because of that I will not buy a bass unseen.

He had it at 2/16" actually which is super low for me even if the neck was ok.

I'm just hoping they call soon (if they don't the dealer is going to be pissed. He had them escalate it and told them they have 4 hours to call me lol) and I have quick turnaround.

I'm assuming they'd just replace the neck unless they can either replane the fretboard or replace it entirely. I wouldn't imagine they'd have to make a whole new neck.

I heard back from Chris @ G&L. There is too much variance from side to side from the treble to bass side of the fretboard. So they're making me a new neck. No ETA but I figure it will be about a month.

Light tint, vintage tint is just a bit yellow for my tastes

Totally agree, G&L neck options are just too sweet. Gloss, light tint, binding, I'll be in hog heaven when this beauty arrives.
