Did you order a flat sawn or quarter sawn neck? I ordered a quarter sawn and it came with nice, tight growth rings. Like I said already, my neck is flawless. Mine is set up with low action and there is no buzzing.
Quarter sawn.

Quarter sawn.
yes, mine was custom ordered as well. was part of a limited run type deal due to it having a factory installed tone control. That's a shame. Yeah I'd expect to wait at least 3 months. I have a feeling I'd have an uphill battle trying to get a refund if the bass comes back to me not to my liking since I ordered it custom. But you ordered yours custom too didn't you? Hopefully you don't have that problem should you go for a refund.

This is not what I wanted to hear. I've been waiting a month for a replacement neck that got damaged in shipping.

Things might have been different back in 1999 when ordering my custom ASAT [double bound, #7 neck, matching headstock]. The build was delivered in 9 weeks, exactly as promised. Since then it's never let me down, plays like a dream, and still looks as good as day one.

Wow, that is strange. I can't see them using wood with the wrong moisture content or milling it incorrectly. Once milled it should stay fairly stable unless it had had some sort of humidity shock.
I expected the neck on this one to be perfect. But I guess things happen. I'm only giving them one chance though. If this neck has any issues at all I'm going to fight for a refund.
I love G&L but waiting 7+ months for a playable instrument is ridiculous.
I am a bit perplexed by G&L. It may be my perception but I seem to hear of more neck problems from them more often than others. It is probably due to the fact that most often the problem children get mentioned and you never hear from the ones that are perfect.
Still that doesn't account for what seems to be a large number of neck problems from them. Kind of a bummer cause I love the way they sound.

about was due to user error and not G&L's fault.Thats a good response and action has been taken. I believe G&L is gonna make good on this one. I'd also be surprised if the neck is messed up when it arrives but I would also expect some minor problems as in neck shifting during shipping and things of that nature. Look for the saddle lock screw to be tight and of course tuning. These problems might be fixed by a dealer before you receive it but since the bass is going directly to you, you will have to deal with it. Another problem might be the set up. It might need a bit of a filling in the nut slots. Watch Out!!! if you intend to increase the string gauge when you swap out the strings.
I once used Facebook to voice my dissatisfaction and I got an immediate response to my grip. Unfortunately, the problem I was cryingabout was due to user error and not G&L's fault.
Bummer.
Curious about the neck damage. Headstock area?
