My L2k is the only bass I've seen that used threaded brass inserts for the screws on the Battery cover. Over-Engineered perhaps, but it just goes to show that Leo was NOT KIDDING on these basses. Do they still do that on the new USA built ones? Mine also has a big brass plate in the control cavity that everything is star-grounded to. I fried the preamp while doing some ill-advised tinkering with the electronics ( the less said, the better), but was able to get a a drop-in replacement from G&L. Excellent customer service too.

I still have a couple 80s preamp boards/chips in my stash.

2004 L2000 blue burst with maple binding,couldn't resist fretless(ghost lines),but wanted it even though not a fretless fan,so I had it refretted. Couldn't resist the body binding. I sold a nice L2000 with the body binding,black one,but always was trying to find another one! When I saw this one,blue burst,

decided not to let it get away.

Dig that binding, the fall away on the forearm relief makes it comfortable. Schweet!

Found this in Chicago about two years ago for $1,100. Sounds and plays amazing, such a clear and vibey bass. It's one of those instruments that if you can't make it sound good on a song then electric bass probably isn't the right instrument for that song.

I picked this up a couple of months. Definitely player grade but every thing works and it sounds great.
