I'd truly like to find a low-priced, used G&L L-1000 ... who knows, maybe one day ... (voted Fender as almost all my basses are Fender for tone-related decisions)
Why do you think that?
I would think the LB100 is G&L's answer to the P bass. I have owned one.Well...this is a hard one. I generally don't like the sound of dual humbucker basses like the L-2000 (even though that was my first bass) but I love single H basses. I love the sound of the Fender Jazz but not the P. I love the sound of single H basses. So I own several MusicMan single-H basses, a G&L Jazz Bass, and would love to own a G&L L-1000, which is in my mind G&L's answer to the P-bass.
Notice there's no Fender-branded basses in there, which has to do more with my opinion of FMIC's behavior in the marketplace than Fender designs. So go make sense of that, everybody.
WOW! What a great looking collection of classy classic basses!!!Don't make me choose for bass (for guitar it's Fender all the way). If I had to choose for bass, it would be G&L, because that cheapo Indonesian L-2500 does more than the other 3 combined. But there's nothing like a a P, J or Ray. When you need it, you gotta have it.
(I didn't vote, for I have no brand loyalty. I plays what I likes.)

Thanks, I sure like em! Classic designs, but only the P is anything close to classic (1976). The others are all late model imports: J is MiM, Ray is Indonesian SBMM, L-2500 is MiK Tribute.WOW! What a great looking collection of classy classic basses!!!![]()
Get a Caprice, then.Like I've said, I've heard good about all of them, but I haven't owned any yet. The fact that the Stingray is active brings it down a notch IMO. I'm always paranoid about the battery dying on my Yamaha.
OK, OK, OK, .... classic LOOKING basses. Thanks, I sure like em! Classic designs, but only the P is anything close to classic (1976). The others are all late model imports: J is MiM, Ray is Indonesian SBMM, L-2500 is MiK Tribute.
Looks like you're on the same Leo bandwagon as me.OK, OK, OK, .... classic LOOKING basses.
Still a really beautiful collection, though.
