Gallien Krueger CX 410 + what head?

I am considering in acquiring the Gallien Krueger CX 410 Amp cabinet (8 Ohms, or 4 Ohms?). However, being in the absolute ignorance in the matters of electronics and engineering, I have zero idea what head I should pick.

I was considering the Gallien Krueger MB-200 (the cheapest head I could find on the Thomann Website) but I am too afraid to purchase with zero know-how of the intricacies of this new area of "Cabs + Heads".

Any information and/or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know how loud your band is but generally with a 410 I would recommend a little more power, something like the MB500 would be a better fit,

We are set into playing Metal. We like it loud, so a 800W cab seems to be the meaning of "If you want to play live, you're set, if not, then you got a sweet amp". However, if i were to choose something other than the MB500, how would i need to look at the lists?

Ex.: "This head doesn't offer enough resistance for the cab."?


Or is the head expressly needed to be from the same company?
 
Cabs don't make "wattage", they are rated for the amount of power you can stuff into them. Cabs turn that electrical power (watts) into sound (and waste heat).
RAG recommended the best match in his equipment line. The MB800 as an example can exceed 1,000 watts and would be a danger to the cab as would the Fusion 550, 1001RB II, MB Fusion 800. The man knows what to recommend as HE designed/engineered them.

Basicaly, from what you stated, the head supplies the wattage. So, if i were to juice the cx410 for 500W i would need the head (MB-500) to do so.

With the MB 500 if you get the 4 ohm CX410 the amp can deliver 500 watts to the cab. Get the 8 ohm CX410 the amp delivers 350 watts, but you can add a second CX410 8 ohm ( two 410 cabs, 810s) for much greater sound level than the 500 into one 410 cab. Adding more speaker displacement gets much more volume than just pushing more watts at one cab. To get twice as loud with one cab from amp power alone you need to multiply the watts X10. That would mean starting at 350 watts (MB 500 into an 8 ohm cab) you would need 3500 watts. As you can see from upping the "wattage" from using a 4 ohm cab (added 150 watts) would not do a lot.

I have a question, if i buy a cx410 4ohms and use a TC electronic Bh800 4ohms, it would give me real 800w of sound? What is the difference if i buy 2 cx410 8ohms with the same amplifier? Only the ammount of air in my back?

TC has been know to be very less than honest about power ratings so until it is tested independently there is no guarantee it actually puts out 800 watts.

Watts produce far less sound than speaker area. Two 410 cabs with 500 watts will produce far more sound than 800 into one 410. The sound level difference between 500 and 800 watts into the same cab is barely noticeable. If you start from 500 watts and go to 5000, then you would have a big difference but the cab would be destroyed in the attempt.

Watts do not equal sound.
 
Ok. Thanks for your help. I hope you know what you're talking. I will upgrade to gk cx410 4ohms and tc bh800 4ohms. Here in Portugal have to pay about 1100€.

Besides my education I have been doing live sound and performing for over 40 years.

Keep in mind the difference from the 4 ohm cab and the 8 ohm cab with that amp would be mostly the ability to blow up the 4 ohm cab with the amp. I would choose the 8 ohm version personally. You are playing bass not skinny string guitar.
