Now that you've had a really good chance to hear it in the real world, how would you say it compares to some of the more conventional GK amps?

So, I've had the MB2-500 for a week now. Played one practise with it, and it was all good.

Yesterday I was playing with it and trying it out. Suddenly something went wrong and now there is a subtle high frequency distortion coming out of it. It's audible at small to high volume and from cabinet & headphones. It only appears when I play something.

Crap...

Hmmmm, similar experience this morning. I have been attributing it to the electricity in our venue, but there is much less hiss in my Yamaha BBT500H and it doesn't occur at all with my LG1000. Normally I can dial it out with my Bass's treble know or the EQ's on the amp, but neith technique worked today. Next week I'll take the G-K and the LG1000 plus one of those iron core clamps for my speaker cable and hear what happens. My speaker does not have a tweeter control. Also, I []just[/i] noticed I had the ground lift engaged; it's easy to press that button, so check it and see if the amp sounds any different in the two positions.

Addendum: My bass is active, my Tele is not (duh); it didn't matter which one I plugged in, the hum you described was still there. I just tried this a couple of minutes ago. The noise disappeared when I unplugged the instruments, so that eliminates the bass's battery. Used three different brand cables, no improvement. Uh oh, looks like I'll be going back to my Yamaha BBT500H or switching to my LG1000. Too bad, because the G-K MB2-500 is a GREAT idea IMHO.

Which rev (A00, A01 etc) do you have? It sounds like the radio interference I was getting, which has now been eliminated with rev A02..if you turn the master and gain right up, with a cable plugged in but no bass connected can you hear a radio station faintly?

yup, having similar issues with an A03 sn and couldn't even make it through rehearsal last night until I went to go get my trusty Genz amp. Only mine started out subtle and not intermittently goes into a cutting in/out fuzz tone frenzy. Same settings as always and doesn't matter what bass/cab/cables, etc..
Has anyone heard from Brian at GK? Haven't gotten a response yet from him..

I had the Rev A03 (which was a rogue rev number - see earlier posts) and had it replaced with the latest rev A02 which made a further mod for radio interference and all is good now.

No, I had that problem with my first one and used the iron core clamps to kill the RFI in my original A00 amp. The current noise problem is in my upgraded A02 replacement amp, totally different issue.

Remember, these things are fairly new on the market so early adopters like me experience the risks for everyone else. I still think it's a great idea and design.

Ok, did some testing whith the head. I checked the Direct Out -signal. Pre EQ=no noise. Post EQ=noise. So the problem is somewhere after the first gain stage.

Also, when I turn down the Treble knob, the noise mostly goes away. I have the A00 version.
