Thanks RAG! Brian already emailed about swapping out my unit. It would be cool if the new rev could include access to the handle screw heads too. I really want to remove mine so I can use a right angle cable on the input jack. But that's minor, and I feel silly mentioning it really.

This has been my first GK product and I've been playing bass for 15 years. Worth the wait!

Sorry, the rack ears are there to stay.

When designing this amplifier it did not occur to us that any one would want to rack mount it.

From my gig on Friday - first show with replacement MB2

C'mon! Who wouldn't want to rack this thing? :smug: 23 Pounds for a wireless, flashy tuner, AND bonafide 500 watt GK amp - all rolled up into the protection of a rack case! :hyper:

I don't think he meant to be rude. I manage a group of engineers, and this is just the way they normally talk to people. That's why it's usually best not to let them talk directly to the customers. They don't sugar coat anything... they simply speak very directly. I read his comment and thought nothing of it. :)
Had I thought for a second, I wouldn't have posted. Knowing a fair share of engineers of various persuasion...it shouldn't have caught me off guard...it just sorta slapped me in the head like a cold mullet...

Just placed an order for one of these. FYI - musicians friend has a scratch n dent deal for 529 ish. If you use the discount code MF23 the total shipped to your door is $446.13

Edit - I also wanted to add that adding the item to the cart, and trying to use the discount code does NOT work. Go ahead to the checkout screen and apply it there and all is good.

so when is the new run of these going to be going out? i placed an order with music123 10/30/08 and was told that a truck was coming the next day... and if there were none on it, the next truck would come 11/20/08.

i looked in my email yesterday hoping i was going to see the email with my tracking information... nothing. i look on the music123 site and it still has "email me when available". so i look on the musicians friend site and they have "available 11-20-08".

this morning i check my email... nothing. i check the music123 site... nothing new. i check the musicians friend site... date changed to 11-21-08.

so i sent an email to music123 and ask when they expect to get these in. the response is 12-29-08! :scowl:

sorry for being impatient, but what's the hold up? :eyebrow:

I stopped by the local GC yesterday and they finally had one of these in stock
(Ser #A00 so no mods). Of course, there were no cables around and the bass area is a mess. The GK area has been pushed to a back area and there doesn't seem to be much choice in cabs either. I walked out. I'll have to try this out another time (perhaps I'll arrange a visit to Andy's house. :) )

It's not an additional change; there was a change made to the pre-amp and I/O board grounding. Both changes fell under the same ECO (Engineering Change Order). The person who makes the labels assumed a Revision up-rev. without actually looking at the ECO; but now it's corrected.

Ha ha ha - I'm not the only guy on this list who has the occasional ECO related nightmare - er - Issue?

way too much of my life at work is pushing ECOs through Oracle past people to whom and ECO just means more work, so they push back... Sadly, I don't get to do with fun stuff like bass amps....

Just got home and got mine out of the box......damn, an A00

That said....this little thing is -loud- and sounds much better than I had anticipated. Stupid light....I just bought a nice backback to put this, and my cables/strings/tuner in. Will be a nice one trip load in/load out using this with my 1210l

99% sure it's series. I have never seen a GK amp with a parallel effects loop.

There might be an older GK amp with a series loop that exists, but all of their current heads have series loops. I doubt the MB^2 is an exception.

Bummer. I was hoping I'd be able to use the return fx jack as an aux input for a drum machine when practicing . If it's in series, that won't be possible :-(

I'll be running it into a Schro 15+L and 12L stack-looking fwd to hearing it and comparing it to my Shuttle 3.0.

a loop pedal such as the boss ls-2 will allow you to do this. effect send to loop a input, whatever into loop b, out of ls-2 to effect return. individual level controls on the boss.
