I don't usually have the time to play video games but I have been getting into Battlefield 3 haere lately.

I really enjoyed Dragon Warrior 7 for the PSX. Was never a fan of the Final Fantasy series after it went to 3D. For instance, FF7 was one of the most boring gameplay experiences of my life, though most people LOVED the game. Beyond the eye candy (at the time), there was nothing redeemable about it, IMHO.I seem to be leaning towards the turn based style as well.
What are your favorites for PS and PS2? Might as well throw in a few SNES as well![]()
A rule that is PARAMOUNT with me ; I don't give a rat's ass about graphics, period! So they're irrelevant to me.?
This seems backwards to me. Turn based RPGs were always dull when compared to the "real time" battles in Zelda, IME. Ocarina of Time on 3DS is friggin gorgeous!

You might find turn-based RPGs dull, but they're much more interesting to me as it's more like chess (i.e. strategic vs action-oriented).
And I already mentioned that I absolutely HATED every Zelda game as they represent what I don't like about that type of RPG. Just not interesting in the least to me.

And I regularly go back to Black Ops when Im bored, though I havent been bored for a while. I should also finish Red Dead Redemption, but those stupid horses...
Dude. Finish red dead. Its so good. I'm about to restart it actually.
To the op, have you tried borderlands at all?

Also, I saw in the E3 issue of game informer, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. I'm so stoked for that one. I've played all of the metal gears 20 times over for each game. MGS4 was probably my favorite. That octacamo was awesome.

its not made by the people who made metal gear solid, its made by the people who made bayonetta and vanquish. its gonna be way way different.
i loved bayonetta and metal gear solid so im expecting to love this, but i'm not expecting metal gear solid at all.
No flaming here, buddy. Just explaining in more detail my stance on graphics, really. The graphics are secondary, not the most important aspect to me. For me the most important thing about a game is the story, and the Zelda series hits the right notes for me. I just found turn based RPGs to be uninspiring. But I couldn't play them long enough to get into the story. Anyway, no need to flame!![]()
It's never been an RPG in my mind but rather an adventure game with some RPG elements thrown in. It's well done on every level, but I never got into them... just like some music you hear that is technically amazing but just doesn't strike a cord with you. You know?Cool, thanks Strat.
I'll get around to the Zelda games eventuallyMaybe I just need to get familiar with the controls or something, but I have a terrible time with old school action rpgs haha.
Dragon Warrior... *that* is an RPG.![]()
