Gamers, what are you playing these days?

So I've finally forced myself to sit down and play FF7... and now I can't stop lol. Good game! I haven't played it since I was really young, so it's like playing it for the first time all over again. Dunno if I like it better than 6 though (US 3).

Hey so I just looked into gaming on pc....what's the deal with steam/digital downloads etc? Are you "tied down" once you buy something or can you burn to disc?

Do vendors sell on disc anymore?

I've never been all about being "connected" but some stuff I've been reading sounds pretty wild.

You can put Steam on any PC that you have and download what you already own to the new system. You'll never need to touch a disc again.

Some still sell on disc. A lot of places if you buy the disc the game becomes attached to an account which let's you access and run the game from that account on any computer you choose to install it on. That's how steam and the digital downloads only work.

Ok. Yea I've just been seeing a lot of "I can't set my pc to offline mode" in forum threads. For a couple moments it makes me stop and ask "so what did you pay for if you can't use it the way you want?"

Yeah, a lot will still let you play without needing to be online, just need to be connected to download the game. Those issues only really come up with something like Diablo iii where even your single player solo games are hosted on blizzards servers so you're subjected to lag, server problems, etc. But honestly in this day and age I don't see the huge fuss about it as my computer is connected to the internet whenever it's on. But I guess some people aren't so lucky.

Also, just bought FFVII on Steam. ****ing sweet! Haven't played this in years and years.
