GASing for an 80's type bass.

The Ibanez Roadstar II basses have become popular for collectors so the prices have gone up. They are still a good deal if you can find one. The Peavey Fury, Forum, and Foundation are pretty good basses. You can find 80s Yamaha BB basses pretty easily.
I never tried a Jackson back in the day. I've always heard their basses are just OK. Nothing special.

My sister played a Roadstar II. She was a big Tina Weymouth fan at the time. She played through the same Peavey TKO 65 that I used for practice and is still testing the foundation of my house...

My first bass was an Aria ProII Cardinal 380. It doesn't say "80's" as much as the RSBs. I'm surprised nobody has posted a Steinberger yet. I remember when my bass teacher bought one and he let me try it! It had a completely different feel from his G&L L1000.

Gotta second that, my buddy has one, I was skeptical at first, now I use it every time I jam at his pad, even inspired me to get the matching shirt!:D

I had one back in the day :rolleyes: It was pink and black snakeskin. Lol. Seems to me they were very neutral sounding, just kind of 'meh' but as a 17 year old, I just wanted the look.

I know when I've seen this Jackson signature bass I've thought 80s. Maybe because of the headstock. Spec wise I'd guess it would be decent. I've never bought a Jackson mainly because no one around here has any. Even if a bass isn't in stores nearby if someone will let me hold there's even. But I never see Jackson stuff in person.

Thanks, ash. I forgot about that particular model. It may not be what I'm GAS-ing for, but it sure as hell is super-duper-eighties…frighteningly so, in fact! :wideyed: :D

Is that the David Ellefson bass? Big Megadeth fan here...and I have thought about his signature bass.

Any Roadstar II Ibanez. Ibanez was killing it in the 80s. They made variations of all the classics: P, J, P/J, L2000/Sabre, Stingray & also had some unique designs popping up at the time.
Most of them are found for $400-600. A steal for the quality.
