A trans green Stingray 5 with matching headstock and maple board. I had a 4-string version that I sold hoping to find a 5, but never did. I don’t think more than a few were made based on how rare they seem.

I once had an LTD F54 bass,got pissed at the wife one night and smashed it in a drunken rage,biggest regret EVER, for it being a "beginner bass" it was awesome,now it's rare ,I can't find one ANYWHERE anyone has one they'd part with email me at [email protected], I'll do cash or trade, I'd prefer the silver sparkle,but will settle for the black one,I JUST NEED ANOTHER ONE!Just wondering what basses or other bass related gear you gassed for over the years but could never find at least at an affordable price. There have been a few for me over the last 10 or 15 years. Prices have risen on some things such that I just wouldn't buy today even if I still wanted it. For most the lust for these has come and gone and I have moved on (its not a wanted ad)
- Warwick Stage 2 4 string - These are few and far between but have gotten more expensive over the years. I found one up here in Canada but it was $4k. I bought a Streamer LX instead
- Modulus Funk Unlimited/Flea - even ran a wanted ad and found a couple of sellers who both backed out. I built a Sterling Ray 34 with a graphite neck and Lane Poor copy pup....didn't sound the same
- Ampeg B15 - the prices have risen on these too
- Audiokinesis cab - ordered one and waited over a year and eventually bought a Subway 115 instead which did the trick
Your dream! Eons ago I tried them next to each other at Union Grove Music Los Gotos. Plus plugged into Polytone Mini Brutes and the famous 101.
The EB sounded like a wooden box. For sure I’m sure it would have improved when broken in. The Guild had a built in almost blues bass tone.
Later bought the Guild and sold because the laminate top was limiting its expressive abilities.
Don’t wait get the $1000 Martin. It exceeds them both.
GUILD 302 BASS, I do not "lust" for any instrument, but I can say I have always had an interest in owning one.

I've owned a few Magnum I and II's but these are by far my favorite even though they weigh as much as a Peavey T-40 Guerilla glued to a concrete block. Nowadays they go for money than I care to spend.
#2. Steinberger XL-2 Transtrem Bass.
I have never owned an Xl-2, the Transtrem would be icing on the cake.
There are more. Many more. These are the ones that come to mind immediately.

I have never had a problem finding any piece of gear that I have ever lusted after. My problem was having the money when I found that gear!
Kramer XL-8. I've never seen one in the wild, but I've had a promo pack tucked away since back in the day when I couldn't afford one. I know they pop up once in a while... but still can't afford one.

A Rickenbacker. Seriously have seen one in a store ONCE in my life, and it was already sold and set aside for the buyer when I saw it. Also, a pawnshop mustang. It’s a shame how short lived that was.
I've got one of those magnums. It's not heavy by most standards. No where in the vicinity of the T-40 I owned. I'd say it's probably between 8-9lbs.
The one I've always wanted but only one in reasonable condition has presented itself, and it was hundreds more than I was willing to spend.
I passed up buying a Chris Squire sig model Ric years ago.

I have a vivid imagination, love to catalog and daydream. If I were a millionaire, my GAS list would be much longer. As it stands, my real life unicorn is a Pentabuzz in excellent condition for not much more than 3k. Closer it gets to 4k, I pass it by.

1- Ibanez MC940 fretless (possibly 1st generation, around 1980, like my fretted one). Not impossible to find a good one in good conditions. The bass of my dreams when I started playing fretless, but I had to buy a MC2940 (quality bass, ok, but not like the original).
