Gear you lusted for but could never find

I sort of had a thing for a Yamaha Samurai Bass and a long-horned Burns Bison, but I passed when I saw them come up on Guitar Center's used gear site. Those are the kinds of instruments I want to hold and play first to make sure I like them for more than their cool looks, and GC's return policy for vintage gear is I think only a few days. I played one of the reissue Bison basses since then, and it was meh.

Some day.......

Just wondering what basses or other bass related gear you gassed for over the years but could never find at least at an affordable price. There have been a few for me over the last 10 or 15 years. Prices have risen on some things such that I just wouldn't buy today even if I still wanted it. For most the lust for these has come and gone and I have moved on (its not a wanted ad :))
  • Warwick Stage 2 4 string - These are few and far between but have gotten more expensive over the years. I found one up here in Canada but it was $4k. I bought a Streamer LX instead
  • Modulus Funk Unlimited/Flea - even ran a wanted ad and found a couple of sellers who both backed out. I built a Sterling Ray 34 with a graphite neck and Lane Poor copy pup....didn't sound the same
  • Ampeg B15 - the prices have risen on these too
  • Audiokinesis cab - ordered one and waited over a year and eventually bought a Subway 115 instead which did the trick

- a 72 or 74 P bass under 8 pounds (does gear that doesn't exist count?)

It was your post, the Fender on the far right in your picture. Now that I look closer, it appears it's not a Rumble? It looks very similar to the picture I posted.
Gotcha!
Yep, I see now that the Rumble looks a lot like the Bassman I used to own, which I think was a 1960 model. Both had the blonde tolex and oxblood grill cloth.

I have an Audiokinesis Changeling 212 and it is PHENOMENAL!!! ...But so is the Subway 115. I don’t think you sold yourself short or settled at all.

As far as basses that I’ve always wanted, I have always wanted a Ken Smith. It’s weird because I am a J bass and P bass guy through and through. But give me a Ken Smith with soap bars and 47 knobs and switches any day!
