I had a Guild B-30 but it wasn't big enough. I want one of these Ernie Ball Basses so bad! Super rare and minimum of $4K to buy.

Kramer XL-8. I've never seen one in the wild, but I've had a promo pack tucked away since back in the day when I couldn't afford one. I know they pop up once in a while... but still can't afford one.

Receder - I owned two Kramers back in the late 70's, early 80's. I remember seeing this one, but couldn't afford itback then. It's just beautiful, and those Kramers just kicked ass!

I've spent a ridiculous amount of time searching for one. I almost pulled the trigger on one that was beautiful cosmetically but non working. The seller on local craigslist turned me off. Anything working that looks horrible I just won't buy at any price, and anything that works that looks decent is over $3500. I don't need one, just want one, maybe some day I'll find the right one that some widow is selling at a garage sale that sat in a corner of basement unused for 40 years

I've been very very fortunate enough to satisfy my lust for many pieces of gear and basses in my life.
But when does it really end? Well, you as a person ultimately have to make that decision.
It would be cool to own an all original stacked knob 1960 Fender Jazz bass or a Fodera Anthony Jackson Presentation II 5 string, but it would take a lottery win for me to acquire either of these two. So other than those, I'm quite content with what I've experienced so far (in terms of gear and basses) and what I own now.
Just for fun, I'd definitely buy an MIM Fender Flea Stacked Knob Jazz Bass brand new just for comparison to the 1960 Jazz bass to see how I'd feel about both.

I've also wanted a Matchless Thunderchief 200 head and/or Thuderman 100 fliptop. Those are the dream amps for me.

I really wanted a GK 700RB III 210 combo back in the day. I liked the form factor, tone and power. Seemingly rare as hen's teeth around here. I *thought* I had found one locally (about 15-20 years ago); I drove almost an hour to go and pick it up. When I got there, I found it was the 400RB - not powerful enough for what I needed it to do. So I passed.

Never found a 700RB combo for sale around here. Still would like one. May have to look around again!

For me the worst case of GAS was for a fretless Rickenbacker 4003. I hunted for one of these for decades. I either couldn't afford a new one when they were still in production, or I couldn't find a used one in decent shape for a reasonable price after Rick quit making them.

Now for no apparent reason I have no GAS for an FL Rick anymore at all, but it does hold the record for the longest period of unrequited GAS I've ever experienced.

Another is an MIA fretless Fender jazz bass with an unlined maple fingerboard. A Fender would have required going custom shop, if even the CS would make one at all. Now that I have my Jaco jazz bass, I don't really have GAS for that anymore either.

The only remaining unrequited GAS I still have is, strangely enough, for a Fender Super Bassman 300W all tube head. And I hate tube heads after gigging with them for years back in the gigging days, but I want one of these anyway. They're so fragile and unreliable and something is always wrong with them and tubes cost a fortune if you can even find them and they shatter if you drop em, etc. But I still GAS for one for no apparent reason. They're too expensive for me new, though. So I probably won't ever end up with one.

Yamaha PB1 preamp... they have an unreal tone, and those who own them like to keep them lol.

I'll second that. I had one, and did the opamp upgrade which made it sound even better. Funny thing about a PB - it feels really substantial, but that is because Yamaha used a very thick top and bottom plate. And the unit had a lot of empty space -I would love to find one and stuff a Class D power amp in there.
