Gear you lusted for but could never find
i did "lust" for axes/rigs/yada as a yoot. but these days i'm questing --- i could revive some GAS behavior for a fretless EB that only weighed 3-4 lbs at 34" scale. if it played itself, sent me the money, and fetched my beer = i could see myself as "lustful."

An original Gibson EB-3L in Pelham Blue. Had to be Pelham Blue. Never even seen one, not sure any exist.

Mine is a green 80’s Fender Precision Elite II. There was one available when I was last looking at P-basses, but I sat on the decision too long, was gone as soon as I mustered the fortitude. Pretty happy with the Precision I ended up with, though.
Looking back, I probably lucked out. I’m a recovering car enthusiast, and have owned a couple limited-run models. Searching and procuring model-specific parts can quickly turn global and expensive.
I have seen plenty available now, but can’t justify it, and some of the price demands put other, more modern options within range.

Matamp Series 2000. I know, I know, it's a guitar amp, shock, horror!! But there's a little voice inside my head that keeps tellling me it could be an amazing little studio amp for bass. And even if it's not, well it's the Peter Green amp isn't it? I'm sure I can find some use for it in my studio. Like with a Les Paul or something...

This may sound stupid , but if you set aside 10 bucks every day , from Monday to Friday, you’ll have enough money to buy a ric in 10 months. A brand new one.

For me I really wanted a Kailum Quake, but at the price it was about $600 north of what I could “afford”. I found a used one on Reverb for sub $2000 and bought it.

I owned a Status Graphite Stealth Series I 6 string many years ago that was just wonderful. Like a fool, I sold it. I've never seen one for sale since in the same spec and condition.

There was a brief window when the Akai Unibass and Deep Impact were STUPID cheap when they were first discontinued. I think it was in 2004 and I'm still bitter about it.

always wanted a lawsuit era jazz bass. preferably yamaha.

ever since the kiesel vader came about i had mixed feelings, but i do want the 30" 6 string headless bass. i'd replace the pickups and preamp. it would be glorius. they're rarely on the used market, and even more rare at a fair price with options i like.
