Gear you swear by

I have had a very positive 20 plus year relationship with SWR cabs and heads and GK heads. I have tried other flavors of the month or the new "in" thing....I always come back to SWR and GK. I have never really had a real Ampeg amp other than the little cheap combos that did not impress me. Well after nearly thirty years of playing I have developed a great relationship with Ampeg heads and preamps. Still no real experience with Ampeg cabs but I can say that I am sure Ampeg heads will have been added to SWR and GK once I have the years with them that I have had with the others.

Sadowsky Standard 4 basses
Sadowsky Blue Label Stainless Steel Strings
Genz Benz Amps
Genz Benz Uber Cabs

Peavey, Tech 21 and Hartke all super reliable, cheap and good cust service. Peavey usually doesn't have all the bells and whistles but I am a set it and forget it guy and I know it won't break.

My BDDI is the one piece of gear that I always use and would never give up!

Not to hijack - but does anyone use Trace Elliot any longer. A friend of mine is trying to get rid of one and i was curious. I hadn't seen one on stage in a dogs age...

Yeah I'm still happily playing through my '95 Trace rig and still haven't found anything I like nearly as well for my needs. Its also been rock solid; I've never had any problems at all over the years.

After Gibson bought TE back in '98 and put them on the shelf for years, TE was resurrected by Peavey and has been alive and well for a few years now. I've not played any of the new range yet unfortunately.

I bought a set of vintage (@1990) Trace Elliot cabs back in august, and on Friday I just got the head out of a 1210 combo off ebay for $225. It was gamble because it was being sold "for parts" but presumably there was nothing wrong with it. The gamble paid off, so I now I have a killer head for cheap to go with my cabs which were also about 50% of what they would normally be. I haven't had much chance to use the head yet, but I tried it out briefly with a crappy low end beat up Fender and an SWR Goliath III and it sounds really good.

I've always liked their vibe and sound since seeing Tony Levin using them with Peter Gabriel back in the early 90s and am glad to finally have a full set up. Can't wait to get the whole thing together and use it on a gig (all 160+ pounds of it!).

Nothing. There is always room for improvement. I am happy with my RBI and my pedals, but I know there is stuff out there I would like even better if I could afford to obtain it. I like my 4001 an awful lot, but I use a $300 Traben Array a lot too, so....
