Haven't had the scratch for Ampeg/Genz/Mesa/Berg, etc., but sure would like to some day. Gigging with a Peavey Bam 500 210 and Carvin 115 cab right now, and they have been bullet proof. Rehearsing with a Carvin BX600 210 and Carvin 410 cab. No complaints there either. My band likes both rigs.

That's all that matters. It ain't the gear, it's the player.

I have been very happy with my Genz Benz amps. They're the first brand I've come back and bought multiples of.

started with GK, Peavey, SWR, to Mark Bass, Demeter, and now back to Peavy,... all those amps were pumped through the same (now 30yr old) Peavey 215 cab. that old cab sounds better as it ages. it was recently insulated with foam cushion.

maybe one day i'll buy a new set of 15's. my son has the Mark Bass 102p and i love the sound, but that ol' box moves way more air. YMMV

Ha ha! I don't have experience with GK, but I will say this is probably true about Peavey. The older amps and cabs were built like tanks and of course weigh as much too.

How did the M9 ruin your rig Baird6869?

No problem with that ksandvik, a lot of good stuff out there and it's always fun experimenting with other gear.

For amps: hmmm.....I liked the US Ampeg SVT-VR I had (except for the weight!)

I don't swear by anything, but I tend to recommend gear I own and know well, just like most people here I suppose.

I've not been let down by my gear in ages, but looking back at that time the item that bailed me out the most will have been my PBDDI which I still have as a backup and I may have to return to my pedal board for its drive tones (I don't need it to emulate an Ampeg any more as my SVT4 Pro does that just fine )

I have an old GK 400rb. Thing is rock solid, and I've even dropped it a few times (granted, it's in an enclosure, but still). Cabinets have changed, but the head keeps on

Genz Benz makes some incredible cabs. Their customer service is also fantastic.

Ashdown heads with Aguilar cabs. Perfect combo for that vintage-vibe but with some fidelity to go with it.
