MIM geddy with a neck swap, I lust after the appearance of the American geddy bass and they’re both made of alder bodies but differ quality electronics, I’m hoping to one day swap in the guts from the USA geddy bass into this one it doesn’t sound horrible as-is but I just loved the tone I was gettting from American ged just didn’t like how chunky the neck was, so hopefully this can be a happy-medium

I used to own a USA Geddy but really wanted one with black blocks. Rather than buy a MIJ or MIM, I set about building my own. I ended up liking it more than my USA and sold that one. This one consists of MJT body, Allparts neck, Tom Brantley rewound pickups, BA II bridge. I usually play a P Bass but this one gets lots of play time as well.

I really like Jazz Basses. As some of you know, I am quite fond of vintage Jazz Basses. I was browsing online and I saw this Blonde Stack Knob in a private collection, supposedly one of the first Jazz Basses ever made.

I then saw a blonde over ash Jazz body by mjt on reverb…

So now it’s gonna happen.

So yeah. Should be a cool addition to the Jazz Bass horde alongside my 65 J and my other mjt build in fiesta red (whenever that arrives).

American Standard body, RW Flea Signature neck, Fralin standard wind, raised center pickups (for the 7.25" board). This has been my number one bass for 2025. I love it.

Here's mine. Lefty MIJ p body and electronics, righty Allparts jazz neck for a reverse headstock look, Hipshot bridge and ultralite tuners. The decal reads "Fender Parts Bass."

I bet it sounds killer! I just got the USA geddy pickups for my build, I did have Brantley’s in a previous bass but they didn’t seem as impressive as I had hoped they would be(maybe due to the bass having 60s spacing instead of 70s like GL I dunno)

My Geddy build is just one of many. Here's my current stable of P Basses. Only 2 of these are primarily stock. The rest I built from acquire parts. See if you can figure which ones. I also have a tendency to rebuild and reconfigure. Lately I'm on a 70s kick.

I’m going to guess and say the sunburst with the black PG and the blue sparkle are parts basses I’m probably wrong but I dunno they’re all so gorgeous!

How did you come up with that P Bass with J pickups? I considered a build like that at one point but wasn't sure where to find a body routed that way.

The burst/black is actually a 1977 Aria Pro II "Precise Bass" with DiMarzio pickups. I consider it to be primarily stock except the pickup. The other stock bass is the black n maple. It's a 1976 Fender P. It's 100% stock as far as I know. The rest are all parts builds. The sparkle blue is a Warmoth body with custom sparkle paint by Marty Bell, EMG GZR pickup, Fender AO 50s neck, and Babicz bridge.

If you are referring to the walnut + inset maple guard P with J p/us, I made that body myself about 25 years ago. I went to a wood store, bought 2 pieces of walnut, glued them together, cut the body out on a band saw and I did all the routing myself. Did the inset maple guard also. How in the world??!!

I tremendous job and very risky. I guess it was something that I had to prove to myself that I could do it. Something that "no way" that I'll ever do again!

Warmoth fretted neck with no fret dots. Aero J pickups. VBT wiring. It's a heavy bass although I don't know the weight.
