I literally cannot connect the audio with the video. My consciousness had to subdivide into received audio + imaginedhappytrippy60ssurfeyimagery and received video + pretendmarshalleystacksey70srocksounds. This was demanding to say the least and now I have to lie down for a bit.

I cannot look at Gene's tongue without thinking of H.R. Giger.

I totally concur, it is entirely the wrong packaging.

But this song from a bunch of flannel-wearing Oregonians, if it dropped in the late 90s, would have launched the career of
yet another "Big Star-inspired group."

And probably become the theme tune of a sitcom about a bunch of twenty-somethings getting into all sorts of whacky situations while sharing an apartment (although if I wrote it, it would be an apartment in Stalin's Russia and would be filmed in bleak monochrome). Sorry went somewhere else then. What was the question?

I asked, "Do you think Kiss will be the first band to play Mars when Elon colonizes it?"

Take your time in answering...

He looks mahvelous.

Under Covid restrictions, Gene has suspended his project where for a couple grand he hand-delivers to your home a copy of his "vault" audio archives.
But the project is sure to resume at some point, and I'd imagine that having Gene wear the dress to your house is, like everything else, negotiable.

I'll leave this link in case

Meh! After 4 years of trying to get RID of another Ego Maniac out of office, I Cant endorse this Butt Hole!
He had the best character/ Make up, but other than that I cant say anything else Good about him, Except I like His Daughter:roflmao:

Well now my name ain't Sigmund, but it's just possible that your passion for Gene's daughter, who looks quite a bit like him, is a simple act of transference. YMMV

Timely thread. I met with a friend today over a beer, a fellow Rush nerd like me. He started to badmouth Kiss and Gene Simmons.

Now I'm not really a Kiss fan, but a few years ago I read the Tom Wictor interview with Gene Simmons and that put my image of him in perspective. Gene can sing pretty well and does while playing pretty decent bass and wearing crazy costumes to boot. And in the Wictor story he came across as a guy who is a huge Beatles fan and very conscious of where Kiss will wind up in the history of popular music. Sure, Gene Simmons loves making money, but he also actually loves music.

So I stuck up for him. Even if you dislike him personally, the guy has talent. And also, Kiss gave Rush a key break when Rush was Kiss's opener on the 1974 tour. And Alex Lifeson has said that Rush learned a lot from Kiss about working hard to make your band succeed.

More recently about 2 years ago Gene Simmons gave a speech at the Pentagon about his mom surviving the holocaust, something he also shares with Geddy Lee besides being a singing bassist. I found it quite moving.
