Running a 2 x 10 with a 4 x 10 with a 600W amp SHOULD not be an issue. Most 210s can handle 300W just fine. But if the 210 is less than 300W rating, beware. The OP said he tried different cabs I believe.
I will echo the effect loops patch cable. I had the return input go south on me with an EBS head. In that case I was getting intermittent cutting in and out. And as stated previously, feeding a signal in thru the Aux input would be good to try. And the preamp tube is probably the least reliable electrical component and should be swapped.

Thanks to agedhorse for the fix. A wire must have shook loose. Everything is working perfectly now.
Which wire shook loose? I have a 6.2 on the way and would like to know the trouble spots.

I don't think I'm giving away trade secrets: Disconnect the amp from the power source, remove the top cover, and locate a small gray jumper wire behind the master volume control (the only one). First push the white rectangular plastic header connectors at each end into the little sockets at both ends, then pull on the gray wire in the center to confirm that the header plugs are in fact seated.
The weird thing is that it worked perfectly, I didn't touch it for a few days and when I plugged back in, it was hosed. It must have been coming lose for a while.
All's well that ends well.
