Genz-Benz Shuttle 6.0 Appreciation Thread

Voicing is definitely different... I just replaced my 6.0 for a 9.0, although I really liked the 6.0. First playing at home, low volumes, showed a different sound. Genz Benz good, but different.
The 9.0 sounded less sparkly when flat than the 6.0, through my cabs. The 6.0 was more naturally scooped, while the 9.0 had more low-mids even when flat. I am sure I can make it brighter if I want to, but when you have both with everything flat, the 9.0 sounded darker.
I need to drive it harder to give it a final veredict, but I guess I was expecting just a louder version of the Shuttle 6.0, but it does has its own different voicing. Is it because the Shuttle 6.0 is geared towards the Shuttle line of cabs, while the 9.0 not so much?

I've got a Shuttle 6.0 coming in the mail. I'm sick of lugging around heaving equipment, so thought I'd give it a shot. How is everyone's experience so far with reliability? This will hopefully take the place of a GK 1001rb, which has been amazing to me over the past few years. Never once had a hiccup with it, and I gig almost every weekend.

I can report fantastic reliability with my Shuttle 6.0. I've done many a gig with it paired with either my NEOX 212t or 112T.
Gig after gig this thing have pulled its load wonderfully.
I like how it's voiced. It is a modern sound however, I recently purchased a VT Bass and with the amp flat, I get a nice vintage sound out of the amp. Plus, how can you beat the weight? I stick it in its bag and go.

The new GB streamliner looks nice but for me 600 watts is plenty for all of my gigs. BTW, the built in DI is awesome.
The only problem I ever had with the amp was at a crap bar with electrical wiring issues. They had their ground actually hot!! well, that fried the DI in my Genz, but the amp kept working so I could finish the gig. The GB guys told me they design their amp like that. Friggin' awesome!

Plus, I sent the amp back to GB and they sent a new one out the next day. You CANNOT beat their customer service.
The only problem I see for GB is that they make such a good product and I'm a cheap bas$%*! it may be awhile before I need to replace this great amp.

I just got a new partner for my Shuttle 6.0. I originally bought a pair of 12T cabs with it, but I started playing with a Shuttle series 2x10 at the local music store, and bought it yesterday - now the second 12T cab is at the store on consignment.

I believe the 2x10 has a bit more depth and fullness than the single 12, so I'm going with it...and considering how portable both cabs are, I'll probably use them together most of the time.

Here's the new mini-stack I'll be playing through...the 12 is a perfect fit on top of the 2x10 cab:

Just did a rehearsal (loud) and a gig (quiet) the the combination of my Shuttle 6.0 and my LDS nEarful. Sounded great in both instances. No problem getting the volume or tones I wanted. Now "loud" for me isn't "metal loud" - it's a funk band, but it's still earplugs volume. I wasn't sure, based on what I'd read, that the 6.0 could drive the nEarful, but no problem whatever...
Sounded great. Bandmates dug it. I dug it.

This week I played a gig in a ballroom about 100 to 150 feet square, with perhaps 200-250 people in it.

Using the single 12 and the 2x10 stack shown above, I had the preamp maxed and the volume knob at 8:30 or 9:00 and was almost too loud for the band, which has two guitarists. In other words, I was only about 5 clicks above Zero volume on the master gain!

I am flat AMAZED at the power of the Shuttle 6.0.

I love mine.. I play it through an 8 ohm Avatar B212 or a 4 ohm 1212L.. but I have come to really appreciate the amp.. I use a GT-10B but when I got my Avatar cab to leave at the church I decided to not use the Gt-10B at church so I could really get used to the amp in it's natural state without any additional EQ.. after doing that for a few months now I am even more impressed with it's simple flexibility..

Hey Everyone,

I came across this thread and just wanted to share a recent experience of mine with the GB Shuttle 6.0:

I went to a local music store today with a bass and some of my effects pedals expecting to spend an hour or so playing through different amps. I had no idea that I would end up spending roughly 4 hours playing through the Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0 1x12 combo once I came across it.

I had played the Streamliner once at another local store but didn't really enjoy the tone of it and was turned off Genz Benz for a couple months. The Shuttle, on the other hand... WOW. I cannot believe how well this amp's voice complements the tone of my instrument and the effects processing I do.

This little amp has just nabbed first place in my choices for a small/portable/lightweight yet powerful amp that lends itself well to an extension speaker. In second place is the Mesa Boogie Walkabout Scout, which has a beautiful tone of its own... definitely darker and a warmer than the Shuttle when both are flat. But adding a Mesa 1x12 wouldn't draw out any more than 300 watts from the Walkabout head, whereas adding a GB 1x12 to the Shuttle 6.0 1x12 combo would draw out all 600 watts of the Shuttle's power. Another possibility I've recently been considering is getting a TC Electronic setup (perhaps a RH450 with two 1x12s OR going all out with a RH750 with two 2x10s), but after AB-ing them in the store today... I'm enjoying the general tone and clear, transparent template for effects processing that the Shuttle offers.

I find the amp's voicing to be really balanced and consistent across the strings, frets, and the registers, too. I have played my Warwick 6-string through all sorts of amps and this is the first experience I've ever had where, at flat, the high C string doesn't sound weak. In the Shuttle, it is just as round, punchy and present as all the other strings... straight from the beginning! No EQ needed!

I played around with the controls on the Shuttle in the store but in the end realized that I preferred how it sounded flat, or with the high boost, or with a few small notches of bass boost. Fantastic! Can any of you think of any reasons why I shouldn't snatch this combo up and grab a GB 1x12 to complement it?

Will

GB Goodness!! You're in a small club of players who prefer the Shuttle over the Streamliner though! I like em both but needed a real nice compact setup so had to go with the Shuttle 3.0!

I'll join that small club too!
I greatly admire the little monster called the Shuttle 6.0. Great EQ, & able to give a nice snarling tube grind should you want it.
Had a STL600 for a few months, but it didn't work out for me sadly.
The Shuttle on the other hand, works a treat for me.
If I ain't using it as my main amp, it's ALWAYS there in my gig bag, should the need for a GREAT quality back up arise.
Also, I haven't found a cab that the Shuttle didn't sound great with.

I love the tight bottom end on the 6.0-210T. It's a great amp. Two friends have them, one who plays a J bass through his 210T and another who plays an electric upright through his 12T. The guy with the 210T version has played large outdoor gigs without problems, and the other guy gets a warm, acoustic upright tone out of his.

I ended up buying the 3.0-10T with an added 10T cabinet, which I realize is a different beast from the 6.0. I love it anyway: for this 69-year old bass player, having an 18 lb combo with a 16 lb extension cab is perfect. And when the tone dragon comes calling, I hook up my Mesa/Boogie Walkabout to two 10T cabinets and rock out.

Last Saturday I played a theatre gig with a loud drummer with just the 3.0-10T. Great amps.

I rocked out the Shuttle 6.0 through my Eden stack at an outdoor gig last night instead of mu usual Eden WT800C. It performed very well, and mated up with the Eden cabs quite nicely. I just need to get used to the look of that cute little amp perched on the cabs. ;)

Love my 6.0! Threw a Bugle Boy 12AX7 in the preamp which sounds great, although right now I run my pedalboard (tuner>Opto Stomp>Bass Driver>Bass Octave Deluxe>chorus) through the effect loop return for less noise.

I've been using my Shuttle 6.0 for over 3 years now. Still going strong gig after gig.

Fellow TB'ers gave me a great EQ tip for the Shuttle which is allowing me to get rid of my pedals. (I was really only using a VT Bass anyway). The EQ setting sounds great on my RIC.

Low: 2 o' clock
Mid Boost: 2 o' clock
Mid Freq: 8 o' clock
High: 10 or 12 o' clock
LF Boost: on
Mid Scoop: on
HF Boost: off

While the foot print is small, I don't like having to stack my wireless, tuner and amp with all the corresponding wires. So, I ordered a Gator Rack bag and racking the Shuttle, tuner and wireless. Even after putting all that gear in, it's only going to weigh about 20 lbs. Not only reasonable but will be much safer in the trailer when we travel. I love my Shuttle bag but just doesn't offer enough protection. Plus, I'm going to like the all in one ease.

One of the best amps I've ever owned.

Wow, just got my Shuttle 6 12T combo on Sat morn. Rehearsed with it on Sat afternoon, used it on a gig Sat evening. Absolutely in love with this little amp. Didn't break a sweat lugging it around. First time in my life I didn't strain my hands moving my amp into a gig. :) The tone is amazing. I can't believe how much thought went into the design of this amp. So much flexibility with the preamp to dial in some tube growl but not sound too distorted, and I love the LF boost and I LOVE the Mid scoop (yes, I even love the HF boost too!). That mid scoop takes that (what I find as annoying) "mid-range honking tone" right out. Smmmooooth as silk, with a fat, round low end and bright but not too harsh highs. I wish I had bought one years ago. I used the amp for stage volume (completely ample as is) and ran the DI post-eq to the board for the PA support (thus keeping the fundamentals of my tone preferences through the mains). Love that!
Now I gotta save for the extension cabinet! Kudos to Genz Benz for putting so much thought into their products!

I have been using my Shuttle 6.0 for about 8 months now and it has seen about 10 gigs. I picked it up for a steal from the TB classifieds. Since I am getting older and have back problems, I put together this rig for live shows (My big rig is at our rehearsal spot). I love the flexability and options of this head as well as its totally small footprint, light weight and extremely loud output. What more could I want? I run my Tech 21 VT Bass Deluxe into my Shuttle out through a 4 ohm Avatar Neo 212. Easy load in and out make this a great live transportation rig. I also use it at home as my sitting room\headphone amp. Heres is a pick from a gig this past summer.

Are there any GB Shuttle 6.0 users here driving two GB 12T cabinets as appose to the GB 210T cabinet?
(pictures?)

And if so, how do you like the tone, sensitivity SPL of using two GB 12T cabinets - are they loud, roadworthy build, etc? Also do the 12T cabinets stack good so the top cabinet doesn’t easily slide off?

Oh and most importantly - does the GB 12T cabinet come in 8ohms?

agedhorse, anyone?

Thank you.

EDIT:
I just saw the pictures of the stacked GB 12Ts. Awesome looking - tone, roadworthy build, volume comments? Thanks

I received the Shuttle 6.0 and a pair of 12T cabs at Christmas a coupe of years ago. WOW!

- YES, the 12T is an 8-ohm cab. So is the 210T. If in doubt, check G-B's website.

- They stack beautifully. The 12T also stacks nicely on top of the 210T cab which I now have (see pic below).

- I found the 12T cab to be very punchy, quite loud, and capable of a variety of sounds. I got a wild hair and sold the second 12T, replacing it with a 210T which I got used for nearly an even trade in price.

- TOTALLY roadworthy. Excellent construction, strong protective grilles over the speakers, fully roadworthy.

- LOUD. See also: LOUD. You won't believe the volume the 12T and 210T cabs are capable of producing. I almost blew myself off the stage the first time I fired it up - I needed only a fraction of the volume setting I thought I would need.

My 210T/12T combo stack:

Thats been my gigging setup for months now. I stopped posting on TB because I found my perfect lightweight setup.
