Genz-Benz Shuttle Megathread

I used the 6.0/112 Shuttle combo last night at a kind loud rehearsal (yes even us church guys like it loud sometimes!!! :D)
Anyway, I was amazed how clean and clear that little 112 was. And the 6.0- man what a good sounding amp!
Even the other guys commented how good "that little thing" sounded. "Umm...Mike could you turn down a bit??" heard that too!!! :D

The thing i liked about it was I didn't have to try and get a sound out of it that I brand as "me" (generic jazz bass for the most part).
In fact, all I did was engage the LF button, something I've never did on other amps because it was to drastic, and cut the mids (about 1.5k) very slightly (mid level about 11:00).
And I was there.
I didn't try to really push the "tube" to see how much I could "hear" it.
I just set it up so the little red light never came on and it was clean sounding all the way down to my low B (on my Alleva Coppolo LG5 which is really wamr sounding)- which it was even at a higher volume.

I am VERY impressed with the combo version. VERY.
Now- Hasbeen, Agedhorse- make a matching 112 extention cab!!!:D

One little detail:
Anyone else notice if the strap handle is mounted weird/incorrectly?
Mine has the nice smooth radiused side facing up and the side with the ribs and 'sharp" corners underneath where you hand goes.
I'm pulling mine apart tonight and reversing the handle.

You know, I noticed that as well. It's not that bad with the lighter gear (3.0-10t combo and STL10t extension), but I imagine it would dig into your hand pretty good with the 6.0 combos. I did notice it carrying my gear the 5 blocks to and from the club Saturday night! I didn't think to check and see if it could be switched around ... I'll look at that myself as well.

It strikes me that we have a very similar setup, you with the 6.0-12t combo, 375 watts into a 12", and me with the ministack, 300 watts into 2x10. Tube pre versus FET, roughly the same weight, although mine is in two pieces. About the same price, probably ... very cool that there's so much choice available! Of course, you can leave me in the dust by adding an extension cab ... ;)

i'm sure the wind tunnel tests revealed better results with the handles upside down...imagine how much time you saved walking from your car to your gig with those high speed, low drag handles...and if you strap them to the roof of your vehicle, imagine your improved fuel economy...

Is it rubber knurling? Sure it wasn't that way on purpose to make gripping secure?

Bunch of pansies! Bass players should have heavily calloused hands anyway! You guys are acting like guitards here! :D

C'mon......seriously?!?!
Well that sucker is getting flipped over tonight!

I didn't notice it at all moving it a short distance. But from my car through the church, down a flight of stairs into our studio at church, I was like "***-udge??? They put this thing on upside down!" (big church BTW)

Like I said, wasn't an issue moving it around the chruch from the auditorium to other rooms and such.

My baby-bottom soft hands couldn't handle it!!;)

yup...I'm serious. Hey, we're musician's .....not biomechanical engineers. ;)

We did look at having a handle made that was smooth on both sides but the number they wanted was rediculous.

OK! OK! OK! OK!
After initially wanting to order one right away, then waffling as I like my set up, then reading review after review after review, realizing that the Shuttle 6.0 weighs less than my current pre amp, and soon to be realizing a profit on the sale of the house I grew up in so I won't feel guilty about not having money to put into house improvements, I finally ordered a Shuttle 6.0. It could be two weeks plus before I actually see it, as the place I ordered from doesn't know when it's getting it's next shipment, but I'm pretty sure this will be the last amp I get for a very long time. It should match up nicely with my Bag End S15 stack.

Supply shortage...yes. Genz has taken more orders in the first 6 weeks than they anticipated all year. Demand has sky rocketed and they are trying to get caught up. Sounds like everyone is in line at this point.

I gigged with my Shuttle 6.0 for the first time on Sunday. It was awesome, big stage me and my three piece band. I also used the DI, the sound man was a cranky dude but he did tell me how much he liked the DI and couldn't believe the size of the Shuttle.
THe amp was powerful, loud with headroom to spare. I ran it through my 212T. I am very impressed.

Great job all of you at G-B. Thanks for making a gigging musician's life easier!!!

I don't know why you would have been waiting for three weeks. Orders are "two weeks out".

I understand for certain TBer's, there is a 'Lenten penalty' put in for bad behavior throughout the year, and their units won't be delivered until after Easter. No beer, no chocolate cake, and no Shuttle 6.0's until after Lent.:D
